Several weeks ago the freshly built 1500cc motor in my Datsun did a bad thing and melted the head. I have since found a head and have a 1200cc  short block that only has one event on it so it's pretty fresh.

The 1500 makes 99whp and the 1200 makes 80whp. So here is where I'm going off the rails, the 1500 as two bores with light scoring, even if the rough bores cost me 10hp, 90whp is more than 80whp.

Whichever motor I run I'm only planning on doing 2 vintage races and 2 track days for 2019 and after that I'm contemplating doing a motor swap for 2020.

OK save me from myself or tell me this is sound creative logic.

Fix the 1500. Give the bores a ball hone and reassemble--assuming the pistons are not toast.
