Going to be a VERY interesting year. Feel free to use the rest of this thread for baseless smack.

I am still intending to participate but to be honest until Gina's condition has settled down it is all up in the air.
The build continues though
What is the "host hotel"and how nice is it. Swmbo doesn't like the places I normally pick. Also don't tell her but i'm trying to work out buying a car to enter.
I'll be attending with some questionable board members and possibly doing some of the autocross driving. I'm stoked.
Oh yeah, and I'm gonna roll all you bishes up

Best Western Gateway Grand. It's on the event page here: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/events/2013challenge/
It's really pretty nice. Probably Hampton Inn level rooms. Reasonable room service from the attached sports bar. Fast Internet and doors that lock. I've stayed there for non-challenge stuff, too, so it's nice enough I go there even when I could go somewhere else.

I had the best intentions to bring the N600 and my dad this year, but it's not happening. I'm still debating attending to spectate with the worst intentions and no car.

Happy to help with any local logistics beforehand, if there is something you need done here on the ground. Just give me a shout.
Ill have to talk to the wife about spectating. Prolly just on saturday. Even tho spool will have broken the car before then:-p

that's why Swank is bringing extra axles/trans/cylinder head with us
Swank Force One wrote: That's cute. That's almost as much torque as the weaker mx6 will make to the wheels.
I haz a couple more torques than your weenie turbo can wheeze out. All motor, the only thing forced on the Rustang will be the accolades
So who will drive their challenge car 1000 miles, arrive in A/C comfort and have the highest crusing speed?
This guy.
(too bad those things don't count)

Nicely played.
I still plan on going, if I can scrape together the cash to get down there. My CSX will not be making the trip this year though. I just didn't have the time or money to get it finished in time. Maybe next year...
We are still working on how we are getting there, but I know Team External Combustion will be making an appearance one way or another.
And yes, the host hotel is nice. I still can't believe they put up with what we do down there.

I think I have you beat on distance, and it's november, so I don't need AC.
Real men don't need a/c or power steering on their daily drivers that they happen to be driving 1000 miles one way to the event.
In reply to SilverFleet:
You are more than welcome to help thrash on my "surely to not be quite done" Charger. It will be sharing pit space with another Turbo Dodge from ATL to be later named.
Only because I'm paranoid about the US Mail actually working... are we going to get confirmations that our entries were received?
This will be year number 7 for our team... and this is the meanest car we have ever built. It's simply a 5.0 Mustang with no motor mods (except for a small shot of Nitrous). Men grow chest hair in it's proximity. Elderly people and small children require a doctor's note. And the paint and body work make Women........ throw up a little in their mouths.
The Hotel is very nice. Thanks for the reminder, I completely forgot to put it on the list.
Oh, I built two valve cover racers, but they need fine tuning.
Since there is no Friday night at the hotel, should I still bring them?
You'll need to log in to post.
