Any body done this? Any advice? I wouldn't want much boost maybe 5-7psi

You'll have to build a pressurized box around the whole carb. It can be done, but it's a tricky thing.

I've seen a hat for sale but it was in austrailia. Is there a possibility it might work for a low boost application?

If you use a hat, you'll need foam filled floats, brass -might- not collapse.

You'll also need to drill the carb casting where the throttle bushings are, install fittings and run bleed air from the bonnet into the fittings to provide an "air seal" at the throttle shafts so you don't blow fuel/air out the throttle shaft bores.

You will also need to put a fitting in the back side of the fuel pump to provide boost pressure to the back of the pump diaphragm so it can keep pushing fuel under boost. Or you can go with an electric pump and boost-referenced pressure regulator.

It's easier than it sounds.

See my post in this thread on repurposing a cheap pressure cooker into a DIY carb box:

(I don't know how to include fancy links to other posts)

That eliminates the shaft seals, etc. but you still have to fangle the seals for throttle cable, etc.
