I came in here to say AllTrac. Ben did it for me. EXCELLENT.
Here's my vote Mike; http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1993-Toyota-Supra-Coupe-W0QQAdIdZ465667743
Fd's are stunning as we all know but are tiny inside, supras earned their reliable AND very bulletproof reputation without having to crossbreed it with another makers engine/transmissions.
Btw it took me less than 10 seconds to find that one, your not trying very hard.

For that money, XKR.
mw wrote: Sorry about the slur. I didn't know that was anything other than a short form. I like the lsx fd option a lot. Will $15k actually get me one that doesn't need a bunch more money to be decent? Where would I find one? I do really like the 240z idea too. I am no closer to a decision...
Go to norotors.com and peruse the classifieds section. $15k will buy an FD with an LS motor, but the top notch built cars seem to go for over $20k there.
icaneat50eggs wrote: How much are nsx's going for?
Early ones down here in the not frozen part of the world seem to start around $28k-$30k unless there's something iffy with them and/or they need a ton of work.
You can occasionally find an automatic NSX-T for less, but not much less.
Much as I love FDs with a properly set up rotary, I'd probably be tempted to look for a good R32 Skyline GT-R.

If somebody ever said this to me, the first words out of my mouth would be "N-word WHAT?!"
It's an abbreviation, nothing more, nothing less.
Anyways, being in Canada, you want a GTR. The best of the best IMO. Other than that, I 2nd/3rd/whatever the FD suggestion.

we have engineers come in from Nissan Japan on occasion, we call them jdm people (not condescendingly or with ill-will). lol.
I hope it's not offensive, but if it is, oh well.
I, too, didn't know "jap" was anything but a shorter version of japan. I could see "commie japs" being offensive though
and, on topic: you're in freaking canada! why haven't you bought a GTR yet?!?
we americans have to live vicariously through you

I was thinking that as well. I know R32's exist up there, and seem to be relatively cheap. Can't go wrong with Godzilla... though I think I'd still rather have the AllTrac just for WTF's sake. People know what a Skyline is. Hardly anyone knows what an ST205 GT4 AllTrac is, comparitvely speaking.

Do you want to be different, or do you want to be awesome?
The GTR is awesome (and still different, as they are expensive, there are more GT4's running around here than GTR's). On top of that, the GT4 (besides the CS edition) looks like a Celica = a girls car. And in almost every category, a GTR will whup a GT4, and the Celica takes a ton of work to get it to do... anything.
It was a good car when it's competition was Talons and Legacy Turbos, but not so much anymore... in fact, I'd MUCH rather own a mint Legacy Turbo than a GTR.
halo car my butt. I want a kei car.....the honda beat or suzuki cappuccino would be awesome. Santa, please make mine red. Thanks.

....and I'd like a tattooed raccoon on mine, too!
I want a Honda Beat too, a lot.
Honestly, im finding myself thinking that the FD is not aging that well, mostly due to the taillights. It's a great looking car, but i think the Supra is aging better.

That is rather epic.....

WOW.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jap
Jap is an English abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Today it is generally regarded as an ethnic slur among Japanese minority populations...in the United States, Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation.
Seriously, you are just plain wrong. Go out for sushi and say the word and you will get kicked out of the restaurant, I guarantee it.

whoa! thank you for the education, sir. and I do not mean that sarcastically.
I still think it depends how it was used.......although this butthurt is what eventually led the n-word to mean a racial derrogative instead of an ignorant person.
I still believe that this whole "I'm offended" personality is the real problem.

yes!
Anthony Jeselnik has a bit about standards and practices on Conan. He had an asian joke and they said he couldn't use x or y stereotype, but z sterotype was perfectly fine! (z was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worse)
"this just goes to show, people who get offended by jokes, are berkeleying stupid"
lol

I'm not sure if I should applaud or be horrified by that.
Edit: Also FD.

I used to think the same way until I had some corporate training with a dude named Hiroshi last year. We had a big Harley rider type in the group as well; one night we were out drinking as a group and he made the huge mistake of saying something to the effect of "you're an alright guy but I'll never be seen on one of those Jap bikes of yours." I didn't think anything until Hiroshi hit the guy in the stomach so hard I think his eyeballs popped out of his head a little bit. Then he told us his great grandparents (US citizens) were interned in WWII, how they were made to feel ashamed of being Japanese and disgraced as Americans. He said that it took until his parents generation to regain a shred of pride in their Japanese heritage, and that even casual use of the word "Jap" brought back the feelings of shame and disgrace his family had finally overcome.
So, I'd venture to say that most Japanese would disagree with you...just saying.
