one of my inlaws has a 94ish Geo tracker that has developed a head gasket leak. if I don't take it they are going to junk it. its in fair shape, no rust, 4wd, auto, rag top. I could fix the gasket without much trouble. Is there anything cool I can do with this thing? I'm not really willing to dump a bunch of cash into it. I'm open to anything cool. any ideas?
knobby tires and do yard jobs at poopshovel's place?
They're decent offroaders and not bad on gas.
Someone makes a body lift kit that lets you fit 33" tires on it...
It is a good off road machine.

they are very well built and very stout. They will rust like crazy though. you should be able to have fun with it for cheap.

There's another video or two on my "channel" that may show that one in action. I was in the camera car, not the sidekicker.
My friend (who happens to own the land that video was shot on) daily drives a Tracker (not the one in the video). He loves it (I would to, if I could find a good deal on one).

this one has zero rust and actually only has like 60k on it. the body and interior are fairly beat up though. it was a first car for 3 of my wife's siblings over the years.

Sounds like a great candidate!
Cargo web seats, plasti-dip, rustoleum, rhino-liner, or other crazy, offbeat finish of choice, and you've got a utility beater!
Donate it to me. I've already got two of them as project vehicles. Don't have either one really road worthy yet, but I'm looking forward to getting one done. They seem like they're going to be a ton of fun. As has already been said, rustproofing, waterproofing and I'm off to have fun in the rain, snow, mud...
I have heard that a GM 2.8 litre v-6 is a direct bolt in, I do not believe it. But if it is true it could be an easy way to make more torque.
sell the shell on the basis of it's rust-free-ness
where are ya at? looking to sell the car?
you can do whatever you want with it: http://www.puresuzuki.com/sidekick_tracker.htm
I'm thinking 3" lift, 30's, LSD, axles, cam, header and exhaust.... should be a hoot.
I inherited my Father's and have been dd-ing it for the past few months. I would love it to not be so rusty. Last winter we hooked a 3-point tractor blade to the back and dragged it around to move snow; it worked amazingly well.
Seriously, I'll be there next day to pick it up if it's rust-free.
Still kicking myself for not getting one a few years back.
I have been looking at these recently also. They are really cheap now and could be really fun. Seem to have decent after market support. They have all the makings of becoming a GRM favorite along with the Miata, E30 and Cherokee. I am looking for a manual soft top.
I want one. If you are anywhere near Fl and want to sell it let me know.

My son has that lift kit on one of his with 33's
We've had a niumber of them through the years. His first car was a $400 8V auto that I was storing for a friend, and he's had a thing for them ever since. For a long time we had th utility 'kick. It looked just like the one in at video. The kids would load the fishing gear, the barbecue, and a bunch of beer in it, and go fishing and trailing for the day, doing almost the whole trip off road (we're fortunate where we live).
Now he's driving a 91 that he found with less than 5000 miles on it. It was traded in by a 90+ year old man who bought it, and mostly kept it in the garage. I don't have any pics of it, but it's nice.
I've always wanted to take an all body 'kick (like the one oin the last pic), slam it, put some crazy wide rubber on it and a drive train from an AWD Astro. Would make a good challenge competitior

People are putting VW diesels in Samurais, and the Tracker is similar enough to be covered in the same Haynes manual.

I know there's a Suzuki V6 (from the Vitara of the same era) that is a near bolt-in, I think all you need is the adapter plate, those are commercially available.
