The 3900 had variable valve timing, and I believe it was the first pushrod engine to have that. It would be coupled to the good old 4T65E 4-sp auto
Well, there's a 3.5 version that came out at the same time that's externally identical and WAAY more common.
I'm one of those people who hated the 3100/3400 because i worked on them so much (great water pump location, though!!), and gotta say the 3500/3900 is enough better that i have a very positive opinion of them. It's the first GM v6 i would willingly take over a 3800 in the same car.

This is 100% impossible.
If the car were German luxo or MAYBE luxo Japanese, I'd be more prone to believe it, but I can only assume Pep Boys in this case.
