I find myself the proud new owner of a s4 13b engine. Based on other rotary owners I know, it is my understanding that I will soon have stacks of engine parts magically appearing in my garage so I can build multiple engines.
Now the question is what car should I buy in which to shove this engine?
My immediate thoughts are Chevette or Opel. Inundate me with terrible ideas oh GRM enablers.
Rotaries make nice power for their size. They don't have very good specific fuel consumption. They have a nice, flat torque curve. A flat torque curve is exciting when you have a high power-to-weight ratio.
My uncle and I were going to put one in a Morris Minor. The project stalled because I set my sights on reusing the independent suspension from the RX7 and the fabrication and redesign work would've been way beyond us. Had we just found an appropriate live axle the thing would've been brilliant.
You could shove it in the FB RX7 sitting in my driveway. The 12a seems fine, but everyone I've talked to tells me that I'll end up with a 13b within the year. I've also had at least a half dozen people try to sell or give me rotary parts in the past month before I even picked the car up. I really think you should do a rotary Fox body mustang. Just because.
No one said "Miata"? Huh. Ok. Miata.
I didn't suggest Miata because he already has a Miata and I'd hate to see him tear that particular car apart to stuff a Rotary in it.
I did see an Opel GT this weekend and it is the perfect size car for just such a motor.
e-350 econoline? dodge D-3500? ooo, no no, international C-30! YEAH!
-J0N
3 just for the hell of it.
-CRX
-Alpha spider
-Porsche 964
Or just the 1st neat car you see in the junk yard
B2000
Well, maybe it'd be a B1300 after that?

Damn you, I not only want that but I'm pissed I did not say that lol

Ooh I really like that. A slightly more modern REPU.
From what I've read on the inter-webs, a 13b is pretty simple to swap into an early rx7...
I went the other way. I found a really small truck and could only think of one engine to swap into it.
1965 Datsun Pickup
Old man I know has one hidden away in the barn, it has no engine, don't remember the trans and don't think it has a hood. Haven't seen it in years but I ask him about it every time I see him. If I can get a cheap rotary it will be a challenge project.

I want terrible ideas, not logical ones. Take your simple swaps elsewhere.
I have a perfect 2-door sedan Opel Kadett that no one would ever see coming, and stock weight was right around 1700# with a cast iron engine and trans. Bonus for stock 4:11 rear end.
A neighbor of mine a while ago had one in a Fiat spyder and it was a cool little thing.

Is it for sale?
I have been looking for a Kadett on and off for a couple years and can't find one worthwhile around here.

Fine... Buy an old Moto-Guzzi or BMW bike... And to make it interesting, figure out a cheap way to replicate KTM's 2-wheel drive system.
Airplane. What are you waiting for?
