What did you do to your projects today?

I bought the plastidip needed to freshen up the looks of the Miata a bit.

First I needed to replace a clearance light bulb on the tool truck. Yeah right. Its not the bulb, its the connection turning to green powder...because the ground is an aluminum rivet into steel. The whole assembly came off as I was trying to remove just the lens. So now I've removed all five lights, wire wheeled the whole rusty panel, and hit it with two coats of rustoleum. As soon as thats dry I'm installing 5 new LED light assemblies. Because I really don't ever want to mess with these lights even EVER again.

stared at it a while, cussed a little and then did yardwork instead.

Not a dam thing done to the cars. Spent the day installing HDMI cables on all the TV's in the house and all the other DVD players and game machines etc.

Wired and started final assembly for the electric motor conversion (from vacuum) for the hideaway headlights.

Also assembled a travel tool kit for trips in vintage cars.

Finally got the freewheel to freewheel and a new tire on the rear of my Goodwill find Haro BMX bike, all ready to run around the paddock at CMP next month.

Hosed off yesterday's mud, along with November's last event's mud, from the Subaru's wheels so I can balance and then plastidip them. Either white or obnoxious bright green (already did bright orange on the MR2).

Also made a new GRM sticker from the vinyl sticker to fit the Abarth's back window better.

Started the first step of Operation: Rust Repair on the new scoob.
Thankfully it's all surface stuff, especially since I don't have access to a welder or any other cool tools.
Sandpaper + elbow grease + primer = success.

i started at the Flat Rock MI Parts Galore, and made it no farther because holy E36 M3 is that an E12? yes, yes it is! so i got a halfshaft, a muffler and tailpipe, an alternator, and a power steering pump with hoses. going back later in the week for the other halfshaft and the cylinder head, which was so clean it must have been reworked recently.

Took a whole bunch of crap off the top and back of the Depressive Miata's engine so I could replace the thermostat in the reroute housing, and disconnected the OEM temperature sensor, which I think is bad. I'm bunging the replacement into the front coolant block off plate, but I needed access to the original connector so I can extend the harness to the new location.

All of that took an inordinate amount of time.

Put the Spitfire back together. Had some fun with a GoPro Hero and made a cool video.

Installed new tie rods, new front rotors and brake pads on the MX6 GT. I mean, tried to. The driver side caliper busted a seal and started leaking when I compressed it. Threw the old stuff back on that side, tried to bleed the passenger side, the bleeder valve broke off. I take that to mean my blood sacrifice wasn't enough. One step forward, two steps backward.

got a big box of parts in the mail:

• 4 CV joint boot kits
• 1 valve cover gasket
• 1 front wheel bearing and seal kit

and on the way i've got new front lower control arm assemblies. i work for the company that owns Moog, so my employee discount brought the price down to $55 shipped for both LCAs. not bad, since the identical parts are $36 apiece on rockauto.

I got quite a bit accomplished today. I removed the hood since it will hit a light bulb if I lift the hoist all the way up. Then I removed the alternator, front cross-member, motor mounts and adapters, and the oil pan from the 948. I'll be sand blasting everything and powder coating it. The oil pan was modded by someone else and it seeps, so I'll grind down the welds and re-weld it so there'll be 200% more pin holes

So, this week I want to remove the double oven so I can wire in the larger powder coating oven, then blasting all those parts.

Loctite brand of poly caulk used to glue the rusty Subaru back together (rocker panel & mud flap). Find out in 24hrs if I used enough.

I successfully progammed the keyless remote for my 4Runner. Then I noticed the drivers door didn't unlock so I pulled the actuator and took it aparts. Nothing was obviously wrong so I figure it's something I can't fix. Then I learned how much I hate that gunk used to stick the vapor barrier back on. So today was like 50% successful.

replaced the engine coolant temp sensor. Runs like a top, now.

pulled it out of the garage so i could work on a friends car, then help another friend with his car. pulled it back inside and shut the door

Disconnected the final stuff from the my Miata engine. I hope tomorrow I can post that I put the new engine in.

Haven't had a day off in two weeks.

Installed the second front D-Spec strut w/ GT500 mounts and Steeda springs, new sway bar end links and Prothane bar mount bushings on the S197. Front is done.

Next, on to the rears.

Finally got all the mechanicals back together on my ChumpCar SC300. Even moved a few feet under it's own power!

Fixed the weeping remote brake reservoir then cruised Midlana down the Pacific Coast Highway... with everyone else on this warm weekend. Not much help having 400 hp when every light is red and you get there at the same time as a Prius.

I helped with a garage sale at my elderly father's house as we are cleaning his "stuff" out and will be selling his house.

We got rid of a lot of stuff that we don't have to haul off and Pa got $300 in his pocket - completely shot the day.

i downgraded my brakes from 13.4" back to my stock 12.5" ones...

and have superior pedal feel. the newer calipers were crap.

I installed a sandwich plate, oil t-stat and made oil cooler hoses.

Vinegar bombed the lego, let's see if we can't rid the car of cigarette musk
