What do you pack to the Track Day to eat?

As a driver or crew member, whether it be drag racing, autocross, rallycross, circle track, Chump or Lemons, etc.

With about 20 years plus on and off, these are my personal favorite go - to's. Thanks to my wife also, of course:

-Peanut Butter and Bacon Sandwiches

-Bananas

-Apples

-Raisins

-Yoo Hoo

-Cliff Bars

-Diet Dew

-Bottled Water

-Gatorade (when it's really hot-powder mix and a gallon container)

-Sundrop or Coca Cola (when the sugar is needed)

I also support the tracks food stand with a grilled hamburger purchase

Psychological advantage, BBQ a turkey in the pits!

If nothing else You will have lots of friends when the race is over!

Bananas help with arm pump, I used to eat one before every race. I would eat one at the end of each driving stint as well.

Lots of water....

Yoo-hoo is rad because it ain't milk so you can leave it out in the sun... though I wouldn't drink a warmed over Yoo-hoo. Hoo hoo.

PB&J and Quest chocolate chip cookie dough bars. Fast and easy to eat on the move, because there's no down time at the track. I have a tendency to bring multiple cars.

Not the track but hot summer Highland Games: Egg Fratata's. I make 'em with broccoli and mozzarella and they taste great cold.

The other competitors were eating crappy burgers and soda all day.

We eat really well at lemons races. We have been known to have surf and turf for dinner with big thick strip steaks and shrimp. Usually we have pancakes and a variety of breakfast meats, the lunch is always something in the crock pot that will be available for a few hours as people's schedules allow, like chili or meatballs and sausage for sandwiches or stew or jambalaya. Dinner has been things like and entire thanksgiving dinner, a whole roasted pig, burgers with cheese and bacon and onions and stuff in them, pulled pork, and plenty more. Chrissy's mom always makes lots of baked goodies for us too. Yum.

When I'm instructing, it is nice the food is free, but it really is a step down from our teams usual fare.

Haha. I'm outing my caffeine addiction on this board, apparently.

Sonic is not overstating things. His teams lemons catering is superb.

If I'm roughing it (i.e. Not racing with 3pm) but it's a weekend long event I'll usually bring some packaged foods and hope to lean on the tracks food vendor for a few hot meals. But if it's a one day thing I eat on the way there and bring Lara bars and water. Sometimes Kind bars if I stop on the way to pick up something. They usually have those at gas stations.

Just autocross so far for me, but I'll pack a cooler full of ice and Gatorade and pick up some sort of pre-made hoagie from the local 7-11 when I'm getting ice. Straight water is usually provided at the event. For downhill practice (which is sort of like doing a track-day on mtn bikes), I'll pack something similar, although the food has improved quite a bit at some of the ski resorts I ride at.

I always made sure I had a good breakfast.

Water and some sort of energy bar were sufficient.

Some tracks had lunch available.

SWMBO takes good care of me for track days. Tons of water, grapes (in a container full of water, which keeps them fresher longer), some chicken or tuna salad wraps, assorted snacks, etc.

Since I usually get fed, I just keep some electrolyte drink, Instant coffee, and a few snack bars or dried fruit/nuts in my bag so I have a little bit there to keep me going.

I'll usually try to bring something to drink and some energy bars or similar as a quick snack. I usually either get fed by the organizer or get some food at the track.

Pretty much all my track adventures involve an 4-8h trip and an overnight stay the night before so trying to bring perishable food isn't that great an idea.

Agreed, they feed us at track days. I bring extra water.

Lemons races -- People are so nice and like to party, so I bring some food but mostly booze. I generally get fed well because there is a glut of amazing food. I plan for some meals and bring a little barbeque, but typically don't have a chance to break into my food cooler. What some teams may lack in race planning is more than compensated for with meal planning.

Chumpcar races -- People are equally nice, but less of a festival atmosphere. We grill out in the paddock at night, and then stagger around to socialize after dinner.

During races, whoever isn't on duty is on KP. Sandwiches or wraps.

  • 6 pack of clif bars
  • sleeve of blueberry bagels
  • A case of water (you can seriously never have enough water)
  • a few seltzers to change it up
  • some sort of wrap
  • either chicken or egg salad
  • some cold track refreshments

That's more than enough for a weekend of racing for me.
