It appears that someone was doing a burnout in a late 40s chevy panel truck, and a fuel line broke or something and leaked fuel on the ground which caught fire. The entire truck caught fire (15-20 foot high flames) within seconds of the driver stopping it and getting out. I have never seen anything like that happen before. I kinda wonder if it had an electric fuel pump and he didnt shut the ignition off, I dont know what else would cause a fire like that.

I don't think he was doing a burnout. The way the flame trail looks behind him it looks like some sort of massive fuel pump failure. A lot of the rod guys like that came into NAPA when I used to work there and would buy the cheapest electric fuel pump and then twist the wires together; no solder, no heat shielding, nothing. He probably had a fitting loose with fuel leaking all around the pump and then an electrical spark. Either that or the fuel feed hose came off of the carburetor and sprayed the exhaust, but I doubt it since the fire seemed to start at the rear of the car. Sucky situation no matter what though.

Yea, that was my guess, electtric fuel pump at the back of the car, and he didnt shut the ignition off when he saw it was leaking, so it had plenty of time to pump enough fuel to make a huge fire.

from the audio, they said the rear end shifted.. likely holeing the gas tank and making a spark..

Three minutes of video in a pretty crowded enviorment and no one is seen lifting a fire extinquisher. Of course, it may not have helped much since it burn so quick.

As fast as that thing went up in flames, it's doubtful any fire extinguisher would have helped much. The hole in the tank story sounds plausible. A fuel pump pushes out some gas, but there was too much for one small pump. I've seen a few car fires, but that was the quickest one to fully engulf the whole vehicle.

It's definitely not in the correct place on the leaf springs. Must have broken a cheap lowering block or something.
