So yesterday was the annual SICSA (Society for the Improvement of Conditions for Stray Animals) charity auction of racing memorabilia to benefit the animals, at the Quaker Steak in Dayton OH. I went last year for the first time & bought a couple autographed shirts & a car, nothing major. This time I won 11 of the 104 auctions and still only spent $162.

3 autographed shirts including a crew shirt obviously worn during a drag race by the grease stains, autographed driving glove from Fittipaldi with autographed card, 4 autographed photos, 2 posters, and an autographed blower belt and card from a female drag racer that I had never heard of but it went for $10.

In fact most of these were that cheap. The most I paid was $37.50 for the big poster on the left, $25 for another item, the remaining were all $5-10 each. I was almost the only person bidding on non-NASCAR stuff, by the end every time they got to anything non-NASCAR the auctioneer looked right to me like "ok, another one?"

75% of the stuff was NASCAR. If you liked that, you were in heaven. Windshield, autographed fenders and hoods, you name it. I almost bid on a trunk lid just because the bid was stuck at $50. Although getting it home would have been interesting in the Fiat.

I think my favorite item is the glove. Christian Fittipaldi Grand-AM Rolex 24hr winner and worn during the 2013 Rolex 24hrs of Daytona (4th place finish). I think I'm going to do some kind of small shadow box for it, sounds like a trip to Michaels today.

Dejoria is the new big deal in nitro funny cars. Her dad is made of cash, some sort of liquor merchant, I think. Shes also Jesse James new wife.

You got some cool stuff. I like collecting that sort of stuff, but it ends up taking so much room to keep or display, and I hate dusting. I suppose if my 2 highlights were something smaller than a header from Darrel Waltrips car that saw the wall at the Southern 500 and one of Don Prudhommes headers from the dumpster in Seattle, it might be easier to display them.

I was expecting to see some tiny Dale Earnhart lapel pin or something.

You scored pretty well - there are three days worth of clothing in that haul .

They did mention she was with Jesse James (I don't know why, I guess just trying to give some bkgrd info before the bidding). And it must be Patron. The brand name is all over her safety gear and car. (I know nothing about alcohol but it looks like Tequila and coffee mixed? Bleh.)

I realized after I got home I bought another DHL shirt last year. So now I have four days worth, almost a work week.

LOL, Yeah, John Paul DeJoria. He was the "face" of Paul Mitchell for many years. Give the guy credit for not being shy about diversifying.
