I know someone selling a CSP prepped '97 Miata. I'm taking a look at it this afternoon. This would be the replacement for my RX-8 and serve as track duty toy. I'm keeping the VW for DD duties.
From guy selling the car:
Black 97 Miata, 99k miles, southern car with no rust, never driven in winter.
I bought this car completely stock two years ago and have been prepping it for Solo2 CSP class and track days. Selling because I found a completely different car in a completely different class.
Black interior, Sparco Sprint race seats, Sparco 350mm steering wheel, Pioneer AppRadio and speakers. I have some extra interior bits because I was going to change over the interior to the earlier NA interior for lighter weight.
Manual steering
No A/C
New Hard Dog roll bar (not installed)
Hard top included
Suspension, wheels, & brakes:
AFCO double adjustable coilovers with extended top hats in the rear. I also have a bunch of extra assorted coil springs to go with the car.
Whiteline front and rear sway bars with end links.
Racing Beat front lower sway bar mount brace.
Whiteline strut tower brace.
NB lower front control arms
All new poly bushings. Mostly Whiteline and the rest are Energy, including diff bushings.
Recently corner balanced with competition alignment.
Numerous Eibach wheel spacers
ARP Wheel studs
Aluminum lug nuts
15x9 949 Racing 6UL wheels with 245/35/15 Hoosier A6 tires. Have another 40-50 runs left on them.
14x7 Enkie RPF01 wheels with 195/60/14 Dunlop Z1 tires. I use these for street driving.
Hawk brake pads front and rear (my own special recipe of three different compounds of brake pad)
Goodrige SS brake lines front & rear.
Drive train and exhaust:
Stock 1.8, had compression and leak down test done about a year ago and the motor is strong. Bumped timing and use premium fuel.
5 speed trans, shifts smooth with now problems.
Apexi intake with gold tape wrapped intake tube.
Custom heat shield separating intake and header.
Racing Beat header, high flow Vibrant cat, custom Aluminum cat back exhaust with aluminum muffler.
Very rare ACT spec miata aluminum race clutch. I went with the 1.6 size clutch and flywheel for lighter weight and rotational mass.
Stock Torsen diff with 4.1:1 gear. Energy Suspension diff bushings.
Mazdaspeed motor mounts
NGK spark plug wires
I'm sure there is more that I missed.
The BAD:
This isn't a show car, it's a track toy so I was never concerned about it being perfect.
Paint has some scratches overall. some fading paint on the trunk lid.
Passenger side headlight is out.
Driver side window rolls down really slow (still has electric windows).
Carpet by driver pedals has a couple holes in it.
Tombstone has a small crack on the top but barely noticeable and I have a replacement.
There are some other warn or broken small bits around the car but I have a box of new parts to replace them.
Asking $6,500 for everything.
If you installed some aero front and rear and dropped in an 01-05 VVT motor you would have a very competitive CSP car.
