I’m in for 4.0 with 258 crank. Nothing but the labor and expense of the rebuild. No motor mounts, no other drivetrain considerations, no electronics to worry about.

Maybe I missed something but shouldn't you be looking at Do It Yourself salvage yards? Hundreds of Chevy trucks in them around here and just doing a quick check on pricing........looks like hundreds for a motor/drivetrain not thousands.
