What ever happened with the Datsun 510 redux?

I remember seeing the concept and thinking, "That does not really look like a 510 to me." I dig the concept, like Nissans, but all the sporty ones are too big for my taste. Did it die on the vine, so to speak? I understand the FRS/BRZ sales have been a bit disappointing, so did Nissan shelve it? I think it is a Field of Dreams sort of deal, if they build it, people will come. What is the word? I know some of you mugs have your ears to the ground on this sort of stuff, so spill.

If it makes sense, Nissan will not do it.

Nissan engineering is probably waiting for Renault to make a disappointing FWD family sedan they can slap a "510" badge on and sell the previous generation of.

Yeah, the IDx has been dead in the water for a while.

What really kills me is that Renault and Nissan are basically the same company now, and Renault has some SERIOUSLY cool hardware available in the rest of the world, yet Nissan seems to have no desire to poach any of it for the U.S.

Say what you will about the styling, this is currently the quickest mass-production FWD car sold in the world.

Wasn't the IDX saddled with a cvt transmission only? Lol.

How are any enthusiasts going to take you seriously if that's your idea of a reinvention of a legendary sports coupe?

I have exactly zero problems with the Megane RS. Always wondered if I could get a grey market one over here.
