I have 8 bolts holding the flywheel on my EJ20 motor. I have 8 m10 1.0 X 50mm bolts and I have 8 more bolts of the next higher grade ordered, but I am ready to install the motor tonight. I Want the motor in the car badly, but I do not want it to blow up either. Any thoughts? I wish I had the factory bolts so I could see what they were.
8.8 metric is not equivalent to grade 5 sae give or take.
no recommendation.. .just facts.

I am assuming that you meant that 8.8 IS roughly the equivalent grade 5. I would NOT use that for a flywheel. I know the desire is strong to go drive the car, But this will be worth the extra time to get the right parts.
For this, go to the dealer and buy what they sell.

or ARP/holokrome equivalent...
I second the motion. Go OEM or better. That's one bomb you don't want going off.
What did you remove from there? Use blue "service removable" lok-tite and 12.9 is the next one up from 8.8
No need for these little boogers coming loose.

Actually the next step up from 8.8 is 10.9 which is very slightly stronger than a Grade 8. But like 914 said I would use 12.9's for this application.
