If I had the cash I'd be there tomorrow. Black is my favorite color.

I don't think this absolutely brilliant post got anywhere near enough love. It deserves so much more.
Quick question.
As these are all mainly auto equipped cars, I'm sure some of these cars have either paddle shifters or the ability to shift manually with the shifter.
Which ones are the good ones? I'm okay with slow shifts, I can adjust to that. Which ones will hold a gear?
What about the GS makes them get a vote? I ask because I honestly know nothing about them.
Sorry for the late reply. I'm mostly talking 06-up. I guess the main thing from a practical point of view is that it won't break. Next is that it's comfortable with plenty of adjustment and seats that are both heated and ventilated . Good headlights, quiet, pretty efficient (29-30mpg highway with either gs350 or 450h with 300+hp) for the size, pretty fast in all but gs300 versions, better ride than the x308 XJR (personally verified). Only thing it sucks at is being sporty in handling, but there's a large suspension aftermarket if you care.
I personally wouldn't buy a gs300 unless it was an older 2JZ car i planned to turbo. All the other ones get a strong thumbs up from me.
Not much here in south central TX either.. lol.
The GS450h is only slightly slower than my 911 while being immensely more useful overall and way nicer to take a trip in. I couldn't have towed project cars around on a tow dolley with the 911..
The GS460 is basically as fast but more reliable and conventional in the powertrain department. Less powerful version of IS-F powertrain in a more useful-size car for <50% the money. Either way we're talking ~103-104mph 1/4 trap speeds stock.

Can you quantify the ride quality of your 450h for me a little bit?
I've not driven a car that I would consider comparable to one of these modern mid sized cars. The closest I can think of was my father in laws Avalon.

Thanks for the props...
After I wrote that, I had the damn song in my head for a full day. As my gift to y'all, maybe you can have it too.

GM B-body? 91-96 Caprice, Roadmaster, Impala SS, Fleetwood. Getting a little harder to find, but still some well-preserved ones on Craigslist for $4 to $8K. They share a lot of the same powertrain parts as the F-bodies, so lots of potential for afforable upgrades in gearing, transmission, suspension etc. We have over 400K miles of mostly positive experience with the platforms in this household.

Hmm. That's tricky. I would say an Avalon would probably ride better than the GS450h. BUT! The GS450h has runflats because the battery takes up enough of the trunk that it won't fit a spare. I have a strong suspicion that any GS not on runflats would ride noticeably better.
