My best friend has one in a 4 door. Cammed, LS1, T56, 4.56s. It was a 4.8/4l60e truck but the 4.8 gave up the ghost and he got a complete LS1/T56 w/ a TSP cam for like cheap.
I have a short vid of it camming its ass off with open y pipe, Ill try and find it but I think this is the only pic I have of it. This was during the swap.
Well yeah not cheap but my god the sound is glorious.

Ah the 1uz with ITB's is a thing of beauty. But NOT cheap at all. The ITB setup will require a standalone and tuning. There are no plug n play standalone setups for the 1uzfe yet. Also, ITB's don't give much of a power boost. I say 1uzfe with a single turbo setup running 6psi off the stock ECU. Some people have been able to run up to 8psi off of the stock ecu and injectors with an AFPR.
Doesn't really matter if there's a PNP for the 1uzfe or not. You'd have to hack enough harness to get it into a truck that a PNP wouldn't be useful anyways.
Straightforward non-PNP standalones are easy, anyways. Pretty much any combo mentioned in this thread will need a standalone.
ITBs when set up properly and tuned well, will give a pretty big power boost. Not as much as adding forced induction, for sure... but 20-30hp isn't a small gain.
Running boost on a stock ECU and injectors sounds like a pretty bad idea, too.

You hardly have to do anything to the harness of the 1uzfe to swap it into other vehicles. The engine harness is separate from the body harness and goes straight to the ECU. You just have to wire like 5 or 6 things if I remember correctly. No hacking necessary at all.
(Edit: basic wiring for 1uz):
EB2 connector is a 3 pin connector and is near the igniter
EB1 connector is a 6 pin connector and is near the igniter
IJ2 connector is 17 pin connector near the ECU is dark gray, has 2 rows of pins.
You need switched power to EB2(2). This is a black and orange wire.
You need switched power to EB2(3). This is a black and red wire
You need switched power to IJ2(11). This is a black and orange wire.
You need constant power to EB1(4). This is a black and yellow wire
To start you need to supply "start" power to EB2(1) which is a black wire
Also, the stock ECU works surprisingly well with boosted applications with the addition to an AFPR. And the 1st gen early 1uzfe was practically built for boost; the later VVTi and 4.7 2uz and 3uz have thinner rods and don't have as much a tolerance for boosting and revving as the 89-94 engine.
The LS400 front sump 1uz are the best to use for a swap because they have really tight headers. But the SC400 has the slightly larger injectors.
These engines don't make much N/A and cost lots to get any power N/A but forced induction isn't hard at all. There isn't much of an aftermarket for these either. Kelford makes cams at about 1300-1400 bucks and a few companies make swap components and internal engine stuff (EXPENSIVE). Go on Lextreme or Veight forums and see for yourself.
I wouldn't say these things if it wasn't proven by many Americans and thousands of Aussie's whose been swapping 1uz's for far longer. On top of that I have a 1uzfe swapped SQ.

But that's not as aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and ears as ITBs poking through the hood.
Yeah high revving ITB 1uzfe is ear-porn.
