I wasn't sure whether to post this here, or in the $200x classifieds.

I'm thinking i want another Celica instead of the Escort. Less stuff that i don't know on the Celica, can do ALL work by myself without asking for help, less head scratching, etc.... Working on the Escort has made me realize that especially for a DD, i should stick to what i know in an effort to save money and time.

So... i turn to you guys, because you hold the cars in decent regard as a cheap funmobile, to find out ballpark what it's worth.

Details:

It's a 1993 Ford Escort GT. Red, pealing clearcoat. Straight body, some dings here and there, no major damage. Slight rust above rear wheel wells, again, not major. Not completely rotted out, just surface rust.

Interior is passable. Door panels are dirty, and have been glued back together at some point. Has a stereo in it out of some other ford product, i think only one speaker works. I haven't tried to figure out what the issue is.

Underbody looks GREAT. Typical surface rust on control arms, NO structural problems, no holes in floors. Slight exhaust leak.

Has a set of stock wheels painted black, with decent condition tires.

Recently replaced: Clutch, transmission, lower tranny mount, shifter bushings, suspension swapped out for Tokico Blues/Eibachs, full tune up done, oil pan and valve cover gasket, new brakes, new battery, new OEM intake hose, new air filter.

Has 53k miles on the odometer, title is exempt but clear, i think it probably has 153k miles, DEFINITELY not 253k, it's way too clean underneath for that kind of beating. If the title didn't say exempt, i would believe the 53k.

Spares: full sunroof assembly, transmission with bad 4th gear, stock suspension setup, spare complete good condition BP head, stock fogs, assorted control arms (i think i have all 4), 2 sets of good condition door panels, 3-piece wrap-around GT wing, spare set of wheels.

Runs and drives fine.

What do you guys think i should ask for it? I'd like to get at least $1500 out of it, if i can't get at least close to that, i'll just suck it up. Do you think it's plausible to ask $2000-$2200 for it?

If you put it up on Craigslist, put it in there are 1999, then let someone bargain you down to the 1500.

If you just want ot sell it directly on here, then I would ask 1500.

Roight, but do you think i could get the $1500 out of it? I know it's hard without pics, i'm working on it.

The description is accurate, there's a member on here that's seen it. He's trying to, or may have already sold, the same car, but black, with rust, wrecked front end with a bad clutch fo $800.

I'm just trying to eliminate the fact that nobody will pay $1500-$2000 before i bother throwing it up anywhere to keep from getting frustrated, because i had craigslist.

I have seen nice high mileage Deathscorts for $900-1500 with 1.8 or 1.9L engines.

Yeah, i have a 1.8 Deathscort GT. I don't think i would call it high mileage, nor nice, but it's extremely solid and buttoned down.

So it's looking like $1500 is pretty attainable if i can be patient. Sweet. Celica here i come.

I dunno what the market is, but if I was shopping I'd give $1500 for one like you described.

I have no idea if the A/C is working or not. It's all there, i know it's not charged though. I won't bother charging it, so if whoever buys it ends up with working A/C, all the better.

I will post it up here in the next week or two. I want to put more mileage on it to make sure it's completely solid, maybe fix the radio issues, make another pass at cleaning up the interior.

Might shoot a coat of clear over it if i get ambitious.

You guys are awesome.
