Spray rig for something. Not fertilizer or it would be rusted hulk.

Cool looking, but I wouldn't want to drive it far.

Gas tank as a seat is an interesting choice.
Also looks like the bung in right at...

My first thought when I saw the big wooden "tank" was the wagon from robin hood (the one with kevin Costner) that the drunk preacher had

I think that is for the continued aging of the moonshine it was hauling

I would say its used for maiming the driver.

I would say it was some kind of a sprayer.

Holy crap, I can't believe that truck has surfaced again! It was for sale on CL back in late 2012 in the Philly CL. It was in a small town near me, and I nearly bought it to use for my Christmas display. I was going to clean it up some, put a blow up Santa in the drivers' seat, and decorate it to make it look like a GRM version of Santa's sleigh.

I spoke to the owner of the truck at length. He said it was his understanding that the truck had been used by farmers to get water from the local rivers. They would drive it close to the river, use the PTO pump to fill the barrel and bring it back to the fields. Whether it's true or not...

Oh, by the way, the price I had negotiated for the truck back then was $700 (asking price was $800 IIRC). I was all set to pick it up, and changed my mind at the last minute. I saw it showing up on the same CL ad as late as last summer/fall, then it disappeared.

Anyone notice the chain driven what looks like the bottom end of a 4 cyl. engine inverted.

Yes, as per the previous owner, that's the pump used to suck water from a stream/lake/pond. It's driven off the engine.

it would be worth twice as much if they would have just put the word "steampunk" in the ad right next to "rat rod"...

And 3x as much if they had thrown "barn find" in there.

At least $700 is a little more in line. I was thinking more like $300............$2500 for that is insane. BTW cool idea on the Santa thing.

So we finally found out where the term "bung hole" originated.
