Unless it's been whacked on the driver's side, I'd say it looks like someone gave up mid-restoration.

You're right. It looks more like it was disassembled, rather than stripped in the yard. Hemmings recently had an article from someone praising the virtues of taking over someone else's project. Easier to see what needs to be repaired, cheaper than taking apart a running driver, etc.

He actually bought the thing from someone's estate, though. I hate to say it, but things like this may become more common as the 1st generation of sports car guys in the US get older.

OTOH, if I died tomorrow, I hope someone would stumble across my old GT-6 and finish it. I left it in a field owned by an old racing buddy 14yrs ago when I got divorced. I had done the front suspension, had the tranny rebuilt (by Rick Cline's son Ric!), and had even done one of the seat frames. I always planned to go get it, but times got tough. She was my first real sportscar, and certainly deserves a better fate.

Somebody go get this MGA!
