I'm getting ready to redo the headliner in my E36 M3 and looking for materials to complete the project. What is the standard type of material used in headliners these days or from 90s Euro crapboxes? Any recommendations on going about this? Haven't done one in quite a while.

The backer panel or the covering for the backer panel?

The material covering the foam backboard that makes your interior not look like a hoopty

When the headliner in my Jaguar started sagging I bought the fabric and glue from WLS Headliners.

The BMW/Saab/Jaguar/Audi/Volvo kit is $67 including the material and glue and they have a much bigger selection of colors than I found at Joann Fabrics.  The customer service was great, and they have a bunch of how-to's on their website.

Ive done a handful with spray adhesive and grey or black hairy felt from walmart. Just make sure the headliner pan is nice and clean, then follow the adhesive directions.

There are a few eBay vendors that will sell alcantara type headliner material with the foam backing. I like it a lot.

Here's a before and after of GM headliner and suede after. I like it.

I also did an e36 sedan in black alcantara once, it looked very appropriate there.

Thanks for the info! I'm currently 3000+ miles away from my inventory of cars for a while but I get some R&R home in a few weeks and plan to knock this out. A lot of the local central Florida upholstery shops were wanting $340+ for the headliner, and $250+/seat to put new seat skins on. $1200+ on a $6000 car is not my idea of budget friendly lol. Buying some hog clip pliers as well and going to tackle that as well.
