I only get Hot Rod anymore. Used to get Car Craft and Super Street before they folded.

Oh nooooo! I don't know who's saving on cheaped -out labels, but it sure isn't us. I will have a chat with the printer and see wtf. Thanks for the heads-up.

The ones I've received have two thin strips of the rubbery glue commonly used to glue credit cards in place when you get new ones. It doesn't seem to adhere to the glossy magazine cover well enough and the label will roll off. The June issue did arrive today and as with others it appeared the sticker had been reapplied at least once.

I used to really enjoy Sport Compact Car back in the early 00s, but that went away and all the bling-ier magazines kept going so I quit picking up mags at B&N. Only thing I read now is GRM.

And he's a really fun guy to hang out with. I go out of my way to do things with Sam because I know I'll enjoy it. He's the same in real life as he is on the page. Same with Peter Egan.

He usually makes to the vintage races at Spring Mtn; the group of guys he pits with are all fun loving, on Saturday after the racing was done they were grilling up food and just generally being goofy. He flies in that BMW 2002.
GRM and Overland Journal are the only ones I subscribe to.
I used to love going to the local bookstore and perusing guitar, model, European car mags, etc.
I get Speedway Illustrated the last remaining oval track mag, Area Auto Racing News, a regional weekly paper, and occasionally Octane because I'm fancy like that.
Pat Gahahl is mostly retired these days (he edited Hot Rod, Rod & Custom and Street Rodder over the years, and contributed articles for Rodder's Digest) but he still has a newsletter he sends out every couple weeks. My current paper subscriptions are GRM and CM. Through Apple News+ I have access to a large number of magazines and read Top Gear, Evo, CAR, R&T there and occasionally C&D and Motortrend.
Many years ago I was an avid reader of CAR back when they had George Bishop, LJK Setright, Russell Bulgin (all RIP...)

I met Sam a few years ago at a press launch and he said he was a big fan of my writing, and I was super flattered, then he said he remembers reading my stuff in middle school and I was like "Wow, man. Way to blow any credit you were accruing with your very next sentence."
Just curious, does anyone remember a British mag called Cars and Car Conversions? It was one of my favorites back in the day ((like, the 1970s and 80s). I forgot to list Racer as one I read.
I stopped receiving R&T when Egan slowed down/retired. I loved his writing.
GRM and CM
I seem to have gotten a bonus online sub to Race Tech because they were having trouble mailing Historic Racing & Technology.
Roundel and Sports Car because they come with memberships.
Just told R&T not to renew. I feel kinda bad, but the new format isn't for me, and Egan was already the last thing keeping me subbed.
Cycle World online, and I'll sub at least as long as Kevin Cameron is writing. I'm leaving off a couple of British bike mags, but mention cycle World because any gearhead should read Cameron.
Kevin Cameron's and Peter Egan's columns were always the first things I read when my Cycle World arrived.
I used to get Rod & Custom and GRM. But you know how that went. So GRM is it. No Time, no People, no gardening, woodworking, cooking, motorcycles.
Maybe I should venture out to a sizeable book store and find the magazine section. It's been "awhile". I did read Sport Compact Car and a few others years ago, my old humble Scion xB made it into a reader's rides section of SCC once.
I read car and driver and road and track just because someone at work gives it to me for free. Makes for a good mag to read on the crapper in the morning.
The only magazine I currently get is Motorcycle Classics. This makes sense, as I've kind of given up track cars to fiddle with terribly made British and Indian motorcycles.
Once upon a time I got R&T, then C&D. I liked when they did tests of actual cars normal people bought. Somehow they gave that up to Consumer Reports and began focusing on absurdly expensive exotics for the beautiful people.
I got GRM for years and had CM for a couple years also. I don't think the magazines have changed, only my tastes have. I pretty much am wholly uninterested in cars built after the mid-1990s but also have removed myself from the restored car world. So, neither magazine has content that appeals to me with frequency. I'll be the first to admit I'm probably an outlier. If there was a magazine that combined Roadkill with Vice Grip Garage I'd subscribe to it. I'm more about having fun than winning trophies on or off the track.
I also used to get Autoweek back when it was a newspaper and would save Satch Carlson's articles. I don't know how they managed to screw up such a good publication.
I don't read digital magazines. I subscribe to Model Railroad Hobbyist but honestly only read the occasional issue. I just don't like reading magazine type stuff on a computer.
Years ago I read David E. Davis' Automobile religiously. But sadly, nothing exists like that anymore.
Autoweek was also pretty good (if not a bit thin...hey it's a weekly OK?!) during this time frame ('90's and early '00's).

I do miss my love for magazine reading, though; it started in third grade with BMX Action, BMX Plus, and various 4-Wheelin' and tractor pull mags, then moved on to Car Craft, Car and Driver, Bike, and Esquire. It all kind of became a re-run. The internet . . .
Interesting. It went through a phase like that at least once before but it seemed like Steve Magnante and Frieburger turned it around and made it a decent publication again. But in all honesty, that's probably been 20 years ago now. Time flies. I guess Freiburger has his work cut out with Roadkill and has for quite a number of years now.
