A Zenos E10S would probably hit everything but the aftermarket support.

An i8 would hit everything except the convertible. Well, it could be convertible, but then it'd miss budget.

I would say Panteras are the closest thing to the image you want - they’re like a hot rod less pretentious Countach. But then I looked up price + no convertible, sadly.

I’d be surprised if any Jag or BMW can make it happen for you, like a friend of mine was so excited when the new GTO came out but then when he saw it in person he was like “no one is going to know it’s not just some new Cavalier or something.” And a lot of these one-offs seem like kit cars, not so well executed.

i personally think the 2nd gen Viper looks worlds better than the first. I loved the first when it came out but now it looks dated. Sadly the 2nd is also getting long in the tooth style-wise. I just can’t think of anything that’s turned my head like a Viper though, despite the 2nd gen’s aging. You said it’s not enough of an upgrade to justify doing, but if some of your complaint with the first gens are resolved by the 2nd, and if no one can out-viper a viper then I’d get a newer viper anyway.

OR, it sounds like you want a K5. So get a K5 and cruise entirely differently

Else, restomod a RoadRunner

C6 GS ragtop? Never mind, quick review of post #1 says No Corvette

BMW 6-Series ragtop?

both are not too old, kinda flashy, pretty fast out of the box and can be made faster, instantly recognizable, (relatively) exclusive.

if K5 is on the table, what about a resto-mod early Bronco?

personally, I'd be all about an LS swapped 69 el Camino with a bed cover.

I think the Astons are the prettiest cars you can buy, that would be me pick if I was tired of a viper.

93gsxturbo, I saw you posted about driving your Viper the other day, what did you decide to do with it? Also, do you have a thread with pics after you upgraded the wheels?

Lexus LC 500  Saw one today and it is MUCH better looking in person.  No idea of the price but what a spectacular car!!!

I really like it in this Green

Been around since 2017 but I have never seen one in person until today.  Hell I did not even know it existed untill tday.

996 Turbo vert.....  literally hits the entire list.  True convertible, fast, can be made as loud as you want, huge aftermarket....

This is your car.  997 if you want to spend $10k more.

996 is the Gray Toyota corolla of the P car world. Blah design, no street cred. Not rare. Not Flashy.  Personally, I love them and agree with you. Great cars, but doesn't meet his key requirements:

What I want:

  • Fast and Loud
  • Flashy
  • Instantly recognizable
  • Rare or at least uncommon
  • Welcome at any show or event
  • Real convertible or maybe a targa
    • This is a non-negotiable.  I don't want a fixed roof.  Corvette or Supra with a targa would be the furthest from a convertible I would go.
  • Something with some decent support and aftermarket.  Gen 1 Viper is marginal at this point
  • Something nice enough to show off
  • Not a project
  • $10k-$50k  Yeah its a wide range.  Dont want a hoopty or a super exotic
  • Decent collectability - will maintain most of its value

I’d never heard of it before today either. Those hips make it actually a bit distinctive. I like.

speaking of heard...have you heard one?  that engine is an absolute event to behold.  its a really special car and probably one of the last of its kind from Lexus.

Agreed. Yamaha has done a fantastic job on the 5.0L that started in the IS-F and have lived on in the RC-F, GS-F, and the LC

I guess it depends on what your definition of "fast and loud" is but why not Elise/Exige? It's almost the exact opposite of your Viper and it will not depreciate much (If at all) during your ownership. It's definitely unique and you could sell it in a few years to try something else without any problems.

Seems to meet the rest of the list...

In reply to 93gsxturbo :

A square body truck doesn't begin to excite me unless it's a short box step side. At that I've been there, done that.  Seems to get interest from the wrong crowd.
I'm excited by Jaguars. Used they take a severe beating and then come roaring back. Look at XK120 or an XKE.  The  car Enzo Ferrari thought was the most beautiful production car ever.
You can buy an XKE V 12 roadster in that price range and with the strength of the XKE market  really have something.
If you like classic elegance the last Years XJS convertibles  ( after Ford bought them from 1993-1996 ) of the XJS produced some really nice cars that have been surprisingly reliable.    While they aren't  selling as strong here in America as they are around the rest of the world. $25,000 should get a really nice one. While in England that same car is selling for around $50,000

Man I wish all the Pcar and Jag Car pics were not of gray cars,  I can't get behind gray.  I know you can get a jag in a real retina searing orange.

Wife says no Porsches.

One of my bros has an Elise, its super sweet and is on the list since they come in some fun colors and would be neat to putt-putt around.

Ideally i could find a crappy Lambo with bad paint, cut the mufflers off, plastidip it some Mcshiny happy person color, and party on.

Well just your luck! there’s a kit car countach for $2,500 in the cars for sale section right now. Mrs P3PPY’s eyes shoot daggers at me every time I think about it so it’s probably not coming home with yours truly. I guess it’s yours!!
