I've been running p-zero rossos on the super-sportcross and my other is300 for nearly a decade now and now they're discontinued. I bought one last set to tide me over till the next thing but it begs the question, what's the next dd/track tire? I drive very hard, everywhere, so I need something that holds up to abuse from a 3200lb car with 450whp getting pushed on track and street (don't judge me). The sizes I run are 225/45/17f, 235(or245)/4517r. The only complaints I had about the pirellis would be a)they flatspot every night so until up to temp the first time of the day they feel square. And b) they wear pretty quickly (I get 7-10k out of a set if I'm relatively gentle
I've been real happy with Potenza RE760s on my Mustang for several months of DD and one track day so far. Similar weight and HP ballparks. Can't comment on wear yet though.

Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R - best tires I've tried so far.

Are they horrendous in the wet? They look sticky

I wonder what the difference between the two in terms of wear and stick is. Both are interesting options. Thanks!
I really wish there was a standardized treadwear rating for tires. I have a feeling that a "200" treadwear re-71-r is going to wear a Lot quicker than the 230 treadwear pzero rossos have been. If they were similar, I would be all over them. But they look like theyll last a week

The Re71 lasted us 7 hours in an endurance race. The fronts were corded. This on a 3100 lb SHO.
I have set on my Speed3 and have 10k street miles, they're down to 5/32
I ran starspecs on my old BMW.. was more tyre than the Driver had the ability to reach the limits of. She simply stuck to the road no matter what I did. I even drove them in snow.. even if they are a summer only tyre
71R's are very good in the rain until you get to actual standing water. Once you get to that they can't evacuate water fast enough and things get sketchy. If things are just wet or a light/medium rain they're good.
Running 275 width on all four corners in the South where we get monsoon rains, I'm not comfortable with something that has as little tread as the re71s. Standing water is a regular occurrence round here. Plus I'd like to think I'll get more miles out of the 760s but who knows.
I am very happy with RE71s. I mounted them the The Challenge Infiniti Q45.
The Q45 came with bad rubber so immediately, the only tires I bought were RE71s.
Before leaving for The Challenge I put about 1,500 miles on them. These 1,500 miles included one night at the drag strip (with only one pass) and a two driver autox (this is then equal to 2 autox events.)
I then drove the Q45 1,000 hyw miles to The Challenge. We added our 6 "scored" autox runs at The Challenge and then another 6 autox fun-runs (no less than 6 people autox'ed it.) In the drag portion of The Challenge, the Q45 must have gone at least 12 times in the hands of at least 3 drivers.
1st Aristocrat in autox times! 10th overall
I then drove the RE71s another 1,000 hyw miles home from The Challenge.
Once home, I kept the RE71s on for about another 1,000 miles before taking them off for winter.
When I took the tires off, they have more than 4,500 miles on them including the equivalent of 4-6 autoxs. I consider them to be about half way worn.
I also thought they were spectacular on the road and good in the wet. I put all season Continentals on and greatly miss the confidence that the RE71s provide.
The '90 Q45 is 4,000lb at about 320hp running stock ride height and stock suspension.
On-road, the RE71s are noisy but not noisy in the regular "roar" kind of way. The noise is more like the sound of a sticker being peeled off. Its as if you can hear the rubber making contact with the road (and its kind of cool.) Passengers have actually commented on the noise. It is not a typical noise. That's not to say it's scary, just more different. When the asphalt is fresh or really dark/oily, the sound increases.
I have RE71s on my "summer-only" '90 Miata too. I bought these first and my experiences with them on the road are the reason I bought them for the Q45 and hyw travel too.
I really like the Continental ExtremeContact DW I have mounted on my Camaro so far. I've only had them on for a month and a few hundred Street miles, plus one auto x, but I think they would suit your needs well. They're noticeably grippier than the BFG Sport Comps I had previously, as I was under driving them quite a bit at auto x I think, and better mannered on the street to boot. I've yet to approach their limits in Street driving, and mind you this is a 300hp 3400+ pound car. Haven't tried them in the rain yet but their reputation in the wet is stellar.
