Buying tires for the Camry and the Cr-v. Camry is 205/65r15. The crv is 215/65r16. I am looking more for good wet and light snow traction than all out handling.

The Dunlop sp 60 currently on the crv are beasts that got me through sandy a Some bad snowstorms. The Dunlops on the Camry are terrible in the wet. So a mixed bag this far. Any suggestions? I have been looking through tire rack and scratching my head.

General Altimax HP/ rt43

Kumho solus/sensa/ecsta lx

Fusion touring

Continental contipro contact

Dunlop sp sport signature

Any experiences or thoughts on these? Other suggestions?

I have Continental DWS on both DD cars. Not much weather in Texas but it seems to handle the recent rain well. Also, not too expensive.

I have experience with the Continental DWS, General Altimax, and the Kumho Ecstas. My favorite of them were the Generals especially for the money. None were really notably bad at anything for an all-season. The generals just seemed the best in all around use and they are the only ones I've bought for numerous vehicles. (Miata, Honda Civic Hybrid x2, and an Eclipse) No issues in what little snow West TN gets.

The Hankook Optimo H426 tires on my Fiesta are quite good. they seem to have good traction in the light snow that we have had so far. Traction in the wet also is good. Not bad for a daily driver.

Iceracer,

That is good to know. What I read about the hankook optimo suggested not so great wet traction.

Fusion Touring(H rated) or Hankook H727, the Altimax HP is a pretty decent all around tire, but they seem kinda hit or miss lately. The set I have now(Mexico) is wayyyy greasier in the wet than the last ones I had(France). Like 1st is useless in cold rain if the car is full of people, in a 1ZZ Corolla....

OKay, it looks like the decision is between the:

General Altimax

Kumho ecsta

fuzion touring

Hankook optimo h426/727

For some reason the tirerack tire selector keeps suggesting Bridgestone turanza and the Dunlops

Firestone precision touring anyone?

Sidenote: Who comes up with these tire names?
