I just replaced the total pain in the ass rear turbo oil line on the Flex and now it leaks even worse.
Here is said offensive line with the catalytic converter out of the way. I cleaned off the turbo cartridge and made sure everything fit well. But now I have this mess.
Please help because I feel like letting it run until it catches on fire and burns to the ground now.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Yes, provided with the new oil line.
Looks like a steel one. But that's a non pressurized joint, so it's gotta be simple crud or a flange that's not flat.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
I cleaned all the crud. So the only thing it could be are the cartridge itself or the new line aren't flat? Ugh
Ugh, nothing worse than a PITA job that doesn’t work. I’m sorry.
Long shot... You made sure you had the right torque specs right?
Is there anything on the Flex forums?
is it oil.. did you distub the coolant line?
In reply to Fueled by Caffeine :
Yes, it is oil. No leaks from the coolant line.
Not sure about the flex, but some turbos require compression washers on the flange bolts to seal them. Looks like it is leaking from the bolts?
In reply to CyberEric :
Nothing on the Flex forums. 99% of them do not work on their own cars and the few that do have upgraded turbos with different lines. I think I'm just going to have to take it all apart again and really make sure the flange and turbo are flat and true, have a new gasket, and maybe some gasket sealer. I did not use a torque wrench, but I did use my baby 1/4" ratchet to tighten. I don't have an inch/pounds 1/4" drive torque wrench.
I wonder if some of the issue is that the drain is kinked? Its an oil drain, so there shouldn't be much if any oil pressure there.
I could see where proper mandrel bends would really help there.
Anyway, Harbor Freight sells inch/pounds torque wrenches.
