Sounds like a canoe.

Such a good title. Such a lousy canoe.

That's not even a traditional canoe, that's a new random question/story canoe. Those need a new name.

Submarine...they're trying to hide.

Since it is a decent topic, I'll bite before sending depth charges. I sure do miss cruise control...

I will agree that cruise control will spoil you. My moms 08 sentra is a low optioned car, and the CVT without cruisr can really be difficult to master.

My car is a rattletrap. Now that SWMBO has her own ride, I usually keep my heavy metal turned up so I can't hear so many squeaks. Both my cars have been that way actually.

I'm the worlds worst about devfered maintainence. If it's not a huge deal, it can (and will) wait.

My 2009 Jetta is a five speed but slows down like an automatic when you lift.

I miss the whole car. I am driving my tow vehicle as a daily right now and while a 2500HD has all the comfort bells/whistles... a 6500lb diesel truck falls a tad on the unwieldy side anywhere but pulling a load.

My newest car (a 99 G20 lol) is nice...leather, sunroof, Bose radio, cruise, power stuff, remote locks etc etc. But its not my favorite at all. if nothing else, I miss an h pattern in my right hand

My vehicle has unrivaled utility and fun in the same package (it is a Forester XT)

The unbearable characteristic is has is steering ratio and body roll. I'm planning on fixing the first one, but it is just going to make the second worse without stiffer springs. I'm thinking of putting in King springs with a stock ride height.

Right now the only thing the 2002 retains is that nifty 2002 shape. And some bird poop in the interior from a small bird which must have flown in through the hole normally occupied by a shifter when there's a drivetrain in the car.

I am curious (worried?) about how much of its original and unrivaled character the 2002 will retain when the engine and trans will be newer, the front subframe completely replaced along with the front suspension and steering gear... Will it still feel like a 2002?

It's not really unbearable, but the characteristic I don't care for in my current car is the slightly "wooly" steering feel. I bought this car because it does NOT have power steering, and that is also a pain when parking, but sometimes as you start to turn...like for a sweeping on ramp, the steering feel goes kind of "gooey" like it's about to completely let go. Sort of like a power steering setup where the valve in the pump sticks when you least expect it to. I attribute this "habit" to a previous owners crash.

Stiffer sway bars will help with roll and keep a nice comfy ride for daily driving.

even though this was a canoe thread.....

The Elantra has unrivaled dependability, but unbearable rust protection.... 10 years old and I am already starting the fight with cancer.

The Accent has an unbearable suspension, unwilling engine and unrivaled dependability. I literally can't kill it. Drove it home, redline shifting with half a quart of oil in it. that was 50k miles ago.

Corvette is a hammer. It's a hammer in a sledgehammer's clothes. It's hot, it's smelly, it's cramped and it makes giggles emerge from 6' 230lb 35 year old men like they are a 9 year old girl.

The 850 is reliable, always starts, and is comfortable. The comfortable part was reaffirmed this week when I had a '10 2.5S Altima loaner to drive from Columbus to Cincinnati and back. I was longing for my 16 year old Volvo on the trip back.

I miss the clear coat, and the time before there were door dings everywhere. I miss the cruise control (have attempted short lived fixes twice), and when my dash lights weren't on all the time. On the subject of lights, I miss the overhead/map lights. I miss my odometer, and when the powered drivers seat still reclined. I often regale in the memories of the days before I got cheap Walmart Viva 2 Goodyears, oh to have quiet tires again, unfortunately (fortunately) these are wearing like diamonds, so I'll just continue drowning them out with my loud music.

Unbearable? Rust and CIS and a shifter sloppier than 5 gallons of melted ice cream... (Not in that order) (well, maybe in that order...)

Unrivaled? LEDs in the cluster. Starts after sitting for six months. Parts are cheap.
