69 Camaro = yawn. They're waaaay toooo overdone, overpriced, and basically rubbed in the ground. Chevy made a few hundred thousand, but somehow I swear 10 million have survived. Take that same $5k mentioned above and buy something way more interesting and unique than yet another cookie cutter 1st generation Camaro..
The same theory applies to 55-57 Chevys and '32 Fords.
True, but when was the last time you saw a base model '69 Camaro with a 350/4-speed option? To me, this car is more rare than a Z/28 or COPO Camaro.
I'd drop the $5k on it and restore it completely stock.
looking at the pic offer now 10k
without being cruel about it, there's another element i havent brought up. this uncle 's IQ is probably in the low 80's. he worked his entire life for minimum wage. he never moved out of his parents home and lives with them still. reasoning with him is, uhmmmm, frustrating. none of us among his family really know what motivates him to do anything. in fact we're more than a little worried what we'll do with him when his +90 year old mom & dad pass.
I wouldnt bother him about car....he likes looking at it. It will be hard when his parents pass but as long as he has a extended family he should fine. The car should stay with him. It was most likely a very big deal when he bought it new.
he does like pickups. he's got four, but he is down to his last one (a '67 chevy) that still runs. im kinda thinking about finding the nicest tbi gmt400 on earth and seeing if maybe he'd want to trade.
My wife's uncle is the same way, he bought a 70.5 RS/SS camaro in 71 and it is rotting away in a dirt floor barn. He's a joker so I rib him about what a waste it is but he doesn't care; it was his first new to him car and it will stay with him til the end.
At some point I hope he really Looks at it so he can see how far it has been degraded. He would do a great job on a restoration.

With the rage on barn finds, rat rod stuff and the looks of that - in the right setting the thing could probably bring the $$$ to about get him a new truck.
This is why I'm kind of happy that my first new car was such an awful piece of E36 M3.

I like this approach. It will still give him something tangible in return, where the trade of car for cash may not connect with him. Maybe ask him what kind of truck he would like.

no kidding. i though the 350 was only available as part of the SS package? the 327 was the base V8 during the first half of the model year, but was replaced by the 307 later in the run.
looks like i was wrong about the 350 being tied to the SS package
according to the site linked above, the 350-4bbl was optional on early-'69 cars, and accounted for about 5% of the total '69 camaro production. the 4bbl option went away in favor of a 2bbl which accounted for about 13%. so the 350-4bbl is indeed rarer than the Z28. more valuable, probably not, but definitely rarer.

Well, aside from the fact that I agree with you, the OP apparently wants one, so....my advice is to tell the owner that you would like to restore a car like that and if it was originally owned by someone you know that would make it even better, but if he isn't interested in selling, you'll spend the money elsewehere. If he still demurs, walk away.
Don't get caught up in philanthropic feelings about saving a rare car. It isn't rare and the world will get along just fine if one more Camaros rots into the ground. Save your feelings for something that is really rare - you never know when they will cross your path.

Nah, the 350 with no PS, no PB, and 4 wheel drums is actually a pretty common combination. On a side note, if it has the M22 Muncie(trans alone is worth a decent chunk), but the m21 saginaw is worth about half as much as the muncie.
Its a low option cookie cutter car, it isn't worth that much IMHO. Restored "clone" yenko's with correct era 427's in them were only pulling 30k this year at mecum. I drove 2 of them. That car isn't worth 5k IMHO.
Edit: Then again, I hate 69 camaros....I'm tired of seeing them.
I get the "it ain't worth 5k" crowd but I bet I could make a grand in a couple days with that thing. Spend one day and a few hundred bucks cleaning it up, new tires and get it running and sell it for $6,500 by the end of the week.

I would just let it rot. There is always some idiot out there with more dollars than sense who will restore something that really should be crushed, so i'd say that thing has another 20 years before it's beyond hope of some rich idiot with nothing better to do wasting his time and money on it for personal enjoyment.
The only reason it would seem pressing to pick this up right now is because you probably DONT want to spend stupid amounts of money fixing it and you're still in a stage of life where you can get an old car on the road without farming out thousands upon thousands dollars of work.
If that is true, it would anecdotally lead me to believe that 'musclecars are not for you' anyway.

I disagree with you pricing on clones are down and the 69 is the most over done cam but the true orignal cars are the ones that people want now. Even restored ones pricing has dropped. People want whats in that picture right now

^ This. I don't even much care for older Camaros but for $5k I'd buy it today. As noted by others it would be quick and easy profit.
i'm not looking at it for profit. in fact, i agree with the sentiment that camaros are over-hyped unoriginal projects in general. my interest in it stems from the car being an interesting option combo, and that i just hate seeing it go to waste.

This is true, in the auction format, there isn't a rhyme or reason to why certain cars sell for more than others.....then again, here in the midwest, I think the prices are suppressed a bit thanks to there being a crapload of them. That car here would be a question mark at $3-4k....purely because of the 4sp.
