Some place like Grundy, though most low-use insurers assume it's something special and that you'll be storing in a locked garage. They also typically allow 3-5000 miles.
Yea, too fancy for my $1,000 car. Someone at the DMV was telling me he pays like $60 a year on his cars..

I was never able to do better than Progressive until I bought a house and wanted to bundle with homeowners insurance, when my agent found me a better rate...through Progressive. So they're probably a good place to start.
hagerty wants stuff in a garage or storage, but their rates are awesome. The 928 was $200/year. My bike is $135/year for agreed value.

Hagerty's prices go through the roof when you get into newer cars, in my experience (with a '91 900SE). I recently dropped them and contacted a local insurance broker that a friend recommended. He was able to cut my classic car insurance by 8/10s or so, and saved me more than 50% on my daily drivers. The difference was nutso.
Hagerty and all those types of specialty insurance providers are very restrictive:
You're best bet is likely your existing insurance just make sure that they know that you will be limited mileage and just basic coverage.
I think Hagerty doesn't like me because I'm only 19, that or Travelers really is getting me good rates. Hagerty came in at pretty much the same cost. I may have to mess around with it some more though, because right now I pay $200/month in insurance and it sucks.
Nobody here can answer this question for you. Your rates will be dependent on your own personal factors, the marketplace you're in, etc... Shop around and get a number of quotes. That's how you'll know who's giving you the best price.
I wasnt happy at all with the fine print on my wagons policy from progressive so i shopped around and the best i found for coverage per dollar was donegals. Its still more then 60 a year. The 6 months its in storage is $8 a month. Its a stated value policy of 7500.(for replacing the car). Standard comprehensive package including uninsured/underinsured driver, storm damage/deer etc.

Yeah, paying for your own insurance as a young car enthusiast sucks ass. My only advice is to drive/build sleepers.
My girlfriends wagon is $21 a month for normal liability through progressive. Old volvos are stupid cheap
You're going to just be shopping the usual suspects for a street parked car that sees 8000 miles a year.
My MR2 was in a weird spot, too new and non valuable for collectors insurance like Grundy or Hagerty's but too old for a lot of other places. I eventually got in with Progressive for $27 a month liability only. Nearly every collectors place requires a locked garage and I expect unless its something really special anything from 1990 they wouldn't cover even if it was in a garage.

After the first car? Sounds pretty reasonable. A second car, liability only, worth $1000 is going to add like $5/month to my policy. I've added a 3rd before and had a $0 change.
Don't forget that in addition to your age, WHERE you live can make an enormous difference in price for the very same car.
The latest issue of GM has a great article on collector car insurance. I appraise cars every day and the toughest ones to deal with are the big guys who shall remain unnamed (gecko & Flo)especially after the fact when a loss has occurred . State Farm also sells agreed value classic car insurance, so don't overlook your regular carrier with a local agent.
Interestingly, the cost of insuring my 1990 Integra for pleasure use only is... negative.
With Progressive, the multi-car discount makes combining my Integra (liability only) and my 2013 Sonic (full coverage) LESS than the cost of covering my Sonic alone. Not by much, but the outcome is ~$50 less for covering both cars than just covering the Sonic, over a 6-month policy.
