Didn't Javelin mention "uship + patience" a while back?
Doesn't the UPS Store offer packing services? You could just drive it in the front door and have them take care of it.
ask him how much he is willing to spend.... then you'll have a better idea of what direction to look.
a few years ago I shipped my car from Pa to Or inside a "Horseless Carriage" company truck.. cost was close to $1500
uShip + patience is really the way to go. At some point, somebody will have an empty spot on a trailer and will ship it for cheap.
He could borrow my trailer in Sioux Falls and drive out and back in a rented SUV. Most have hitch receivers on them.
Depending on how big a hurry he's in I might be able to do the driving too.

You mean a Mini as opposed to MINI, right?
In reply to mad_machine: I've seen a coupe college kids do that. IIRC, they didn't even tie it down. Instead, they cut an e36m3-load of lumber and made a puzzle of boards on the floor, with cradles for the wheels to sit in.
A classic will fit on a std car carrier, which was how mine was shipped from CA to PA. I paid about $850 including the broker fee. Might be a bit more going to SD mainly because its a less common destination than CA and PA.
Yeah, the car arrived a bit dirty, but I was getting quotes of over $2000 for enclosed transport and that just seemed excessive for a $10k car.
I used uShip for my Volvo, and got a better deal by waiting for the cheapest carrier to bid, and then contacting them directly. They gave me about a $100 price break as they did not have to pay a brokerage fee.
My Volvo just barely made it on a standard car carrier - the track was much more narrow than a modern car's. I would think a Mini might have a similar problem. And it really needs to be able to drive on and off easily.
