Of course my search for a sensible car got sidetracked again (what else is new) by another of my bucket list cars - a manual classic 900 turbo convertible. In this case, it's also a pretty low mileage car, which makes it even more interesting.
What's the spares situation for these like? Not really planning to mod it or anything, but with a 20 year old car I expect that I'll need new shocks and a performance exhaust would probably be nice, too.
I'm pretty familiar with those cars (I owned a bunch of 99s and 900s when I lived in Germany) but I haven't owned one for quite a while.
I had a '92 900S sedan 5 years back or so, parts were easy to find and plentiful. eEuroparts was my friend for quite a while.
eEuroparts indeed looks like a good place to find most of the items I think I would want.
I have had no issues getting parts for my 87 turbo
It is not bad at all. My girlfriend just picked up a '92 900 sedan last week. eEuroparts, GenuineSaab, even RockAuto stock pretty much everything you'd need.
I seem to remember water pumps are NLA for the early 80's cars?
I'm only considering the late 80s/early 90s 16V cars.
Ealy 80s cars used the block mounted waterpump? The later cars had an external.

Correct, the b motor in most 99s and early 900 had this, but there are ways around it.
As for parts, I've never had any trouble. If you can't find something, there are a number of good Saab shops that have hoarded the unusual stuff for years, like Scanwest Autosport in Seattle.
