What's the strangest car you've seen rolling down the road.

Tornado chase vehicle, like this:

There was a guy in town who was in a wheelchair, so he built a sidecar that basically consisted of a ramp he could roll on to and lock down his chair. He could somehow control the bike from there, so you'd see him driving around town with a riderless motorcycle and a wheelchair sitting beside it. I applaud the creativity but man, did it look weird.

I too have seen the bananamobile.

For me, it's probably a tie between the ultra blobby homemade fiberglass bodied electric Fiero I used to see regularly, and the 1990s Camry with a rear dually conversion complete with flares.

Motorcycle regs are quite different than cars. I mean, where does it say you can't sit in the sidecar instead of on the bike? It was effectively a trike with a detachable seat.

For me it would me a glistening red Citroen 2CV rolling along I-81 in the Catskills.

Just recently I saw one of those Mk4 Jetta-to-pickup truck conversions tooling around. It's not the strangest car I've seen but definitely the most unusual I've seen lately.

Used to see a first-gen Insight with apocalyptic bible verses and unhinged conspiracy ranting stickered onto the rear glass but haven't seen it for a long time.

When I first moved here in 94 there was an employee car show here at Ford. I was standing looking and there's this ungodly noise, i turn around and this was driving down the public road towards me.

While there is a lot of automotive freedom in the UK, to see this on the street that's open to the public without a Police escort blew my mind.

I've seen one in Cincinnati as well. Cool and weird.

A few years ago I saw a Pinto that stood out in my mind. Blowing copious black smoke, missing the rear glass, bald tires. You could buy literally anything off craigslist for $250 and it would be better than that heap why are you still torturing yourself by driving that?

A local guy has a motorcycle to tricycle conversion, sort of like this, but the rear is all custom and not car-based (as far as I can tell):

If you ever spend time at the annual Woodward dream cruise, you will see a few interesting contraptions. I guess that is not in the spirit of this thread since it is event that attracts so many "special" cars.

The banana car is local. I see it every few months. I've always thought it needed a supercharger so it could, you know, peel out.
