I've currently got a painfully stock 95 Miata that I've been autocrossing. I've been trying to decide what to do with it in terms of mods and I find the "street class" proposal I read about a while back pretty intriguing: Street Tires +1 wheels (15s will open up more options than the 14s I have now) Both sway bars (I'm worried that just the front bar will make my car understeer a lot...I think it understeers now...) Shocks etc

So what's the word on the street? Is this class going to supplant stock class for next season?

Very curious also.

I thought the last I heard the both-sway-bars part had been discarded?

You don't want a rear sway bar on an autox miata. It shouldn't understeer if set up and driven properly. A big front bar and stock rear is good, big front and no rear is better.

You can't go big front stock rear or big front no rear without increasing the suspension stiffness from stock. Is street going to allow springs?

Both bar allowance went away. You want a front, most certainly the RacingBeat Tubular Race Bar, the thicker one.

For shocks, Koni Race is probably good enough. Unless you want to get into SRS BZNSS. Then you'll want something pimpy, like AST or I dunno...

You'll also want a simple cat-back exhaust, just about any is good. A K&N airfilter may free up a few more ponies. FatCat Motorsports bumpstops seem pretty legit, especially since you're stuck with stock springs.

Other than that, start going to events.

The word on the street is that the '99-'00 Sport will be "The Car" for the E Street, but I'm not convinced. My friend just bought one, and I'm buying a 1994 Miata R (current "The Car" in E Stock). By this time next year, we should know which is the one to have, and the other will slowly become an STR or STS car.

first off... it's a proposal ... at the last offering it's scheduled to become "law" in '15, with changes already and maybe/possible more to come

one of the changes already is, it's back to 1 sway bar ... front or rear ... but not both

shocks ... the pimp shocks (multi thousand $$$$ external reservoirs are gone bye bye

if you're a member of the SCCA you should be receiving the Fastrack publication .... that's where these proposals have been published ... if not I bet they can be found on the SCCA web site ( a PITA to navigate) but if you're serious .. with a bit/lot of digging you'll find them

good luck ... if really new .. then welcome to the addiction that is "lets modify or car for the next class) LOL

your FRC goes pretty crap with the tubular front and no rear bar without springs. My car pushes even with the Eibach sway in the back and the tubular front compared to the stock setup

Current version does not eliminate double-adjustable remote resevoir shocks. Keep in mind, this doesn't mean you need them, but they are not being eliminated just yet.

yeah, you're right ... my bad ..forgot that they backed off of that

this could and probably be a fairly long "negotiation" with the people A: most affected and B: the loudest complainers before any actual rules get changed
