My favourite concept was also Jaguar and then they put it into production in 1992 ...and I still can't afford one.

Having suffered through the affordable-RWD-coupe drought of the late-90's/early 2000's, I've always been tantalized by RWD four cylinder concepts. I have a soft spot for little coupe concepts like the Dodge Razor
and the Toyota SFR
even though both were arguably close to decent looking, but somehow ended up just a little bit ugly duckling.
However, my all time favorite has to be the sub-1600-pound Daihatsu X-021 Miata fighter, which is also oh-so-handsome:
The Neon concept car doesn't look too far off production until you get into the details...
Dual sliding doors would have been good in tight parking lots. The hood and truck were also clamshell designs that allowed a very low lift-over height. There was an idea for the 2-door as well:
GM had a few variations on this theme, I liked the Buick a lot, especially the wheels for some reason. The 1990 Camaro Concept really did show a preview of many details of the 4th gen.
I think the production front-end was actually better, but I am bummed that the amphibious option did not make it to production.
Yes, Ford had a Tuareg WAY before VW.
