im already planning this. thinking homemade fiberglass boattail speedster/50's indycar body on ladder frame, circle track front suspension, 3 link rear, neon dohc engine or gm 60* v6, satin black, and 295/50/15's on all 4 corners.
I already have the engine, and am looking for the body that does it for me the most. have no idea what class it would fall into at the challenge, or local scca.

About halfway through the thread. These guys did some great work to bring that car back. I really approve of builds where they take junk and make it a car. Not so much the builds that take a car and make it junk.

Since we're taking a de-tour to Tour Modifieds and not just Rat Rod's. I love this look and think they would make killer cheap autocross/Hillclimb/Fun Track day cars, especially with an older body style.
I'll be the first to "complain" about the Ghia with the manufactured rust...
It reminds me of a friend in the '90's who bought steel-toe boots and took an angle grinder to the toes to make 'em look as though he actually did manual labor... Same treatment given to his jeans.
You could almost picture him actually getting his hands dirty. I just don't get the fake rust, I have a hard enough time dealing with the real thing.

I think that's the trick - Coming up with a design that works. I've been looking at old trucks, and old pickups have a smaller track width than my dually, so the fenders don't cover the tires well. But if you do something like this one, that's not an issue anymore. It's kid of like building a street rod, but on a truck frame and with dual rear wheels instead of monster street slicks. A heavy duty street rod.
