That language sounds rather dystopian taken in the wrong context.

As someone who is almost gonna be doing the exact same towing down to the challenge ( 97 v6 explorer or 98 v8 explorer towing a rampage) I found this article interesting

Yeah, this is one of those threads that I remember reading twice when it was current, and still read all the way through again.

Likewise.

For some reason, probably "you're a dumbass, dumbass!", I bought a car with "towing capability" as one of its strong points.  I guess I don't remember the white knuckle ride it was towing a car with a 2.5RS.

On the subject of tie-downs, I use the ones that have a hook with a latch rather than the plain open hook (most of which do not seem to be very deep).  Nightmare scenario with the regular hook when you hit those big bumps and the trailered car's suspension travels, tie downs slip or stretch, and the hook unhooks.

Booger

Darn - I was kind looking forward to a discussion about towing canoes.

Came across this video on LinkedIn the other day. Everyone who has a trailer should see this.

I know this is a zombie thread but it's actually very relavent to my last weekend towing the boat.

Before leaving the house I think to myself, "I really should get that spare I've been thinking about"

I get a flat 50 miles from the destination. luckily the first tire shop off the next exit had what I needed.

Boat all weekend.

On the way home I think surely lightning can't strike twice. Other tire goes flat within 20 miles of where the last one we got. Repeat the same process except when I come back I find this.

Moral of the story, always have a spare.

My dad had a flat on the boat trailer, changed it, and the next day, the new tire/wheel departed due to untightened lug nuts. Doh!
