anyone have ideas on where to find some 5 3/4 inch headlight covers? trying to replicate the headlights on the bre 510. if not, my though is to make some out of sheet metal, but takes a bit of time since i'd have to make 4 of them...

Thanks!

The chromed pieces that look like the head lights are sleepy? If so, I have some and willing to part with.

Just buy them as decals from Pete - $20

I see I am wrong as these are just the decals - you still need to fabricate the complete cover.

Daniel Stern Lighting used to sell plastic headlight covers for 5.75" lights. Sadly, they are NLA

I've never understood the post-war purpose of these.

We used to sell them at Automod a million years ago. I wonder if the ones we sold are also NLA. I don't remember the brand, though.

Two grassroots ideas that might not work:

  1. Staples sold my wife some bulk paperclips that came in a transparent plastic cylinder with a 5-inch diameter. Maybe they sell something else in a slightly bigger container that you could shorten as required. You'd have to paint the plastic, obviously.

  2. Bulk pharmaceutical containers for ointment or whatever? My pharmacist was out of sensible sizes for what I needed, so he gave me a prescription in a white plastic jar three inches across; I don't know if that's his largest size for dispensing, but, even if it is, I presume the stuff comes from the supplier in an even bigger container. And it might not even need painting.

Are you talking about a headlight visor?

Sportsters and Springers have 5-1/4" headlights. A visor for one of those might work for you.

Your local vinyl graphics / window tinting shop should be able to do that for you. Probably even print custom logos on them. I'm not a vinyl guy, but I'm guessing that they'd have to be applied to the lens by the pro in order to get a smooth fit.

Just get the decals from BRE and stick 'em on the glass.

You'll need to log in to post.
