Was driving home and car stalled, it's an automatic but I'd explain the stall like if it was manual and I was in neutral and let go of clutch. Not exactly sure where to start diagnosing this problem. Electrical system stayed on. Car engine had a clunk 2 months ago that was solved with new spark plugs.

It's got 150k miles. Outside was assaulted and punched by a drunk person at one time, over and over.

Scanning for codes is step one.

If no codes then check for vacuum leaks (vacuum hoses/intake boot) and then inspect the throttle body. Most modern cars use the throttle body to control idle. If it gets gummed up with carbon it won't be able to compensate and eventually stall.

Doesn't auto zone or something do free code reads?

when I first got my toyota echo(same as a scion XA) it had a nasty bog that will stall the car if i wasnt fast enough with the clutch. It turned out to be a big vacuum leak through a faulty/leaky PVC valve. my car threw no codes also.

Yep if you can get it there. Does it turn over? It's still just a motor so it's easy, does it have fuel, air, spark? Are they working at the proper time?

Ah, ok. Looks like I'll take it to autozone and start there. Everything seems to check out.

Damn, it's stuck at house now. Anyone in Raleigh NC have a code reader?
