I like that car. 'period' wheels help justify the 4x4 stance. :

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.

However, just as a reminder....

If you don't have PERSONAL experience with any of these cars, you can't say anything negative about them from a functional standpoint.

RX7's are just as reliable as any other car listed here. Until YOU have blown up a Starion or Supra or RX7, it didn't happen. This is how these cars get bad reps.

The reputation of these cars is based on "my buddy blew his up!". Did your buddy try to run 14 psi on a stock computer, stock turbo RX7? If so, yep, Dun blow'd up!

Just my .02$

That's basically how most starions got blown up too. Unfortunately turbo cars CAN be modified by people who have no idea how anything on them works. Usually blown up motors are the result. I know quite a lot and even i have broken pistons in my day (a total of 4 over the course of a decade, in different motors). I know enough that im not going to blame it on the car/parts. Im also not going to attribute mythical qualities to the huge proportion of my stuff that hasnt blown up (f2t-syndrome, can we call it?).

F2Ts are pretty intolerant of detonation. The trick is to walk that fine line between cylinder wash and rolling coal to keep them happy.

My setup is a 100% hack job, but beyond that, i follows the rules.

Let me tell you something fun about the StarQuest. People use the transmissions from mitsubishi powered B2600s to make a RWD 4g63 setup to go in StarQuests. (Or TII transmissions, B2600 bell) The next "logical" step is to use the transmission from a Mazda powered B2600 and bolt that sumbitch to an F2T. Voila. F2T powered StarQuest. It's just that easy. berkeley. I just scared myself. This needs to happen.

I like this idea.

lol if your going to motor swap a starquest you should just go 4g63. They sold overseas with that engine so it probably is an easy swap

It has a custom built 4age in it. There is a thread about the engine on the club4ag forums. I love the car, but I don't know if I would have spent quite as much a old skewl has. Then again, I am really cheap.
small bit o' confusion... Mine is NOT the Coroquest... although I am running 170+hp emissions compliant 4AGE. None of my body mods are quite that extensive/expensive........

Sorry about that!

In my defense, when you start post such similar cars, I assume that it is yours.

Seems more expensive.

Though probably makes more "sense." (I hear people use this word all the time, i have yet to determine its meaning.)

Well if we are talking engine swaps in these cars. I would love to make these combo's work for daily drivers. They pretty much match the HP ratings from the old engines but with the newer tech in them, I would expect a fairly large boost in fuel economy and way improved emissions to keep our skies blue. Almost all besides the Toyota engine would be lighter than the old engine it's replacing. I think it's about as close to having your cake and eating too, that you can come to with engine swaps.

Mazda RX7 - MZR DISI 2.3L Direct Injection & Turbochaged.

Toyota - 2JZ-FSE 3.0L. Direct Injection. It's non-turbo but makes the same HP as the old 7M-GTE.

Nissan - MR16DDT. This one's tough, I wish Nissan would pull together a 2L Direct Injected turbo 4, but the closest they have is the 1.6t out of the Juke. It still should be able to be upped to around 200hp pretty easily without hurting the fuel economy too bad.

Mitsu - 4G93 GDI Turbo. Direct Injection, Turbochared. Again, slightly down on power from the original engine, but that could be made up with some more boost or other tricks and still retain the good MPG's

that fine line between cylinder wash and rolling coal

ahahahah great line.

Just messing with you anyway.

I think the 4g63/64 hybrid is the 'easy button' for Starion swaps. Bolts to the stock transmission, improves top end flow by 50%, doable out of a junkyard. What's not to like?

Every time I see that Corolla I want it.
