Inlaws had this 1993 Buick LeSabre that my father in law had black taped the ABS light on because he didn't want to pay the dough to fix it (can't really blame him). Decided to pass when he offered it for free.

I can never pass them up when priced at next to nothing so none.
I would totally get a free 93 LeSabre. My parents had one and it just soaked up the highway miles and got decent gas mileage doing it.
Never EVER pass up a free car! I've driven home freebies just to blow them up and part them out. A 2.3L 91 Mustang will do amazing burnouts with an @ 400hp shot of nitrous before the center two pistons melt, and an 87 V8 Regal with no front sheet metal or doors will do rockfords until the cows come home or you're out of beer. I once spent $20 on a driving Fairmont with a broken rear spring. Added a spare Mustang LX spoiler, cut off the roof, welded the 4 doors shut, painted it purple (don't ask) and drove it 2 hours to a car show JUST to do burnouts and hoon in. Sold it for $50 and hitched a ride home. $80 got a rusty BRAT that was used as a back woods rallycrosser until it rolled several times. Got at least two full weekends of entertainment out of that one.
Bottom line is I don't think I've ever said no to a cheap/free car. Maybe that's my problem!
1943 Willys MB with Dana 44's F&R for $900.00 rust free.
I needed a daily driver and that was gonna be it, sans doors and top. Drove it and suffered through death wobble so bad I almost fell out of the seat.
With a tear in my I drove it back to the sellers house as it was a two hour drive back home and I couldn't manage to make it happen.
A 1968 Firebird 400 4sp in near perfect condition came across my periphery somewhere around 1985 for about $500. I passed because I was in the middle of a 70 Olds 442 ghetto restoration that was already sucking my bar-tending/bus boy/newspaper truck driver income dry.
You know... because a perfect firebird 400 is no where near as desirable as a home-made w31 package created by an 18yr old with a car budget of zero dollars and a tub of bondo.
I gotta say... the only pic I could find does make it look pretty sweet.
Shelby GT-350 $2000 in 1970 or so. Was a poor student. '63 Corvette Coupe $1100 in 1970. Ditto '63 Corvette Roadster $2500 in 1973. I'd graduated & making decent money. The car had a 327 with 250 hp & 3 spd. I guess that was the version that some dealers ordered so they could advertise a new Corvette for less than $4000 when they were new. Still kicking my self for not getting that one.
There is a early 90's Volvo 7-something sedan for sale nearby right now with a manual transmission and a motor issue for under $300. It looks nice, and I have several swappable drive trains too. Just can't bring myself to take on another project.
In my early 20s, late 80s-early 90s, I was offered a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, with the nose and tail, but it had a cracked block. It had been sitting in a field for umpteen years. The asking price was $3500, but I didn't have it.
Passed on a free Opel Manta a few years ago. It had a blown auto trans. Wouldn't have been to difficult to fix, a GM TH250 trans. But had my Opel GT torn apart in the middle of restoring and didn't really have the room. Later couldn't pass up a 63 MG Midget for $50 though. Sitting next to the GT now waiting for me to accumulate enough parts for it. There has been numerous deals I passed on due to lack of $$ but I don't think those count.
I won't go into the $50 55 chevy or $50 67 Chevelle or $150 57 Chevy in high school I passed on. They were just used cars back in 1973. All were 2-doors too. The 57 was a low mileage all original 2-door post w/V8 & AT and ran. The others needed some external engine parts to run.

Goddammit! I would love a free Opel Manta. It's on the bucket list.
95 (or 96) Saturn SC2 W/manual that was almost new. Dad bought it new and passed away a few months later. Mom gave it to me and I drove it a month or so before deciding I already had 4 or 5 2 door cars (Camaros, Mustang, Firebirds) with small trunks registered & insured so I didn't really need another. Gave it back to mom who gave it to my niece. Ya, I know, shoulda kept a new car still under warranty.
never passed on a free car.
closest thing I can immediately think of; did pass on a one-owner 75k miles 1991 Eclipse GSX for $1,500.
I was offered a Viotti bodied Fiat 600 in 1994
one of these.
I told the guy (a family friend) that I would take it but would have to find a place to store it since I lived in a hippie commune house with no parking. He said no problem. When I came back a month later he told me that I would probably ruin it so he was "doing something else with it"
He sold it to Obert who still has it in exactly the same condition I saw it last

Yeah, I probably would have made some non concours decisions. I still think it would look hot sitting lower on campys.
a 1973 911t that ran and drove but was rough for $3000 in 1989. Also an early mgb gt for 1500 that ran and drove well.
They were so long ago, it almost doesn't count, but
Sunbeam Tiger $400
1965 E Type Jag with fresh repaint for $3500.
Immaculate 1956 XK-140 $1895
One owner XK-150S around $2000.
Three I kick myself for not buying
An early Porsche 912 for $700 about 10 years ago (missing engine and seats but otherwise there and very little rust, bought three MG Midgets for $250 instead)
A '67 Ford Torino with a 427 side oiler for $2500 about 6 years ago (motor ran but wasn't in the car. It also would had to have been my daily driver when fuel was over $4.00 a gallon)
Two '70 Challengers for a combined $1800 also about 6 years ago (one was a wrecked dirt track car with a running 360 and 4 speed, the other was a fairly minty non-running 6 cylinder)
My uncle's '71 T-Bird for $500. 4 doors, a 429, and more rust than a tetanus shot can handle. The $500 or so I had was every last cent to my name and no job to get more. I would have parked the thing once gas hit $2/gal.
Passed on a Europa in a box because no place to put it back together. Cost was $500. Apartment living sucks sometimes!
