Yeah, my intended pairing is a Maverick and my 6.8 F-250. It's not crazy if it works!

This thread just reminded me to check and see if my dealer submitted my order. I have had zero contact from them outside of the initial email which is irritating .
Yeah, still nothing on my end. I'm feeling pretty ignored which is a weird feeling to have when I'm desperate to write a check for $30,000 to somebody.
I think I might have posted someone along these lines recently, but several dealers who I've contacted in the past have reached out about placing an order...none of whom are the dealer I placed a pre order with. But I expected that as they seem to have been ignoring me since about 24 hours after I placed my "order". Maybe I should have left off my x plan eligibility, but they asked me about it and assured me they would honor it. Anyway, this has just reinforced that the dealership sales model really needs to die, and also that Ford is really terrible at everything except designing appealing vehicles (including actually building said vehicles). Recently I realized that the Maverick really isn't for me, but if I was still actively trying to buy one I'd probably be pretty upset right now, sorry for those who are having to deal with it.
I went in earlier this week and put my name in the hat; got a call from the sales guy this morning confirming they were placing the order. Said you couldn't get the blue color we wanted, so I picked "Area 51" blue instead. No big deal. Wonder how many months this'll take.. I'm OK with it running into next spring, I have to get rid of a couple of vehicles before it arrives.
After more prodding and more lack of communication, I finally sent a screenshot of another dealer on Facebook talking about how they'd love to take orders and I better contact them ASAP before the order banks close!
That seemed to do the trick: I finally got an order form to sign and return. Is this progress?!
Well in an interesting turn of events I got an order confirmation email this morning. I guess the dealer didn't actually ghost me, the sales guy just didn't feel it worthwhile to reply to my messages. I'm guessing it's at least a year out at this point so I'm probably going to keep the order for now and reassess my vehicular needs when that time comes.
My brother just placed an order for the 24k budget hybrid fwd Maverick. Sounded like a 3-6month wait.
Jae confirmed that he got my form, then I offered a credit card for the $100 deposit and he said he didn't need that yet. That was a few hours ago....

Maybe he can't submit the order because you've tree'd the poor SOB?
In reply to Marjorie Suddard :
Hey, dealers like Jae are a vital part of the buying experience and exist to protect me, help me and educate me. I'm just holding them to their argument.
In reply to Marjorie Suddard :
My local Ford dealer was given advice on fecal related dietary supplements when they stated that they will not take an order on the Maverick because too many people back out of orders.
Maybe Tom's guy transferred from Michigan?
Hoping my December 2021 order moves smoothly over to the 2023 model year. My dealer fails to fill me with hope about his process.
Either this dealer has so many Maverick orders that they've been typing them in for 24 hours straight and believe it will take another 48 hours of furious typing to get to mine... or they're less concerned about this whole process than I am.
Ugh, I emailed my dealer yesterday asking if he submitted my order. He responded that he still needs the buyer verification paperwork.
Oh you mean the form and pic of my driver's license? The documents that I sent to you on August 31st? The same day you sent them to me?
I'm so glad I have to go through a dealership and not be able to order a vehicle online. Can imagine the hassle of that?
In reply to stanger_mussle (Supported by GRM undergarments) :
Oh I wake up everyday and smile because I know I can't receive poor service or be taken advantage of by direct interaction with the company I'd like to buy a car from. (sarcasm)
Looked up the FX4 version a bit online and it seems like it would meet my needs pretty well if only it had about an inch more ground clearance.
Then I saw that the Tremor model is supposed to be out next year. Looks fine, but is way more bucks than I'd spend on that sort of thing. I'm hoping the aftermarket latches onto the Maverick and offers some fun ways to get the non-Tremor models a bit more capable.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Congrats!
When I resubmitted the buyer's verification form to my dealer, all I got was "Thanks. I'll submit the order on Monday."
Thanks for doing your job
Damn. It seems like some dealers don't want to work to sell cars anymore. Guess life has been good for them these past 2 years.
Yeah, it's nuts. My order still hasn't been submitted.
If Ford manages to lose this sale, I'm pretty determined to nuke my budget and buy a Tesla just so I can say I donated to their crusade to weaken dealer protections.

It'd make a good story for the magazine too. Perhaps one that would be better left unwritten.. but still...
