Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience good or bad with Kansei wheels?
I've been hunting for new shoes for my first gen v. The goofy 6x115 pattern means you can buy donks or $2700 forgeline etc wheels. As everyone with a V1 either has the Forgeline F14 or hub swaps them, I don't like either option. I managed to find a company that specializes in undrilled wheel blanks and custom drills them as well as hub sizes them to your needs. As you can imagine most of these are knock-off or otherwise ridiculously heavy style options. There are a few notable exceptions though.
Kansei wheels are a japanese custom wheel supplier that is reasonably new to the scene having just debuted at SEMA last year. I'm curious to hear if anyone has any input.
I'm planning on these Kansei 18x9.5 ET38 as they would give me an additional 1" of width while retaining the same weight as stock. Also a little photochop from a buddy.
No experience but they look great!
No but their advertising is working on me because I really want to order these for my RX7. Seems silly though because my $50 mustang wheels are very similar.

LOl they do have a very oldschool selection of new wheels don't they. Sadly only the one style that works for me is offered by the drill your own guys.
An old coworker of mine ordered a staggered set of 17s(I think?) for his drift car. They came into the shop and looked like a very nice wheel. I had gotten my rotiforms around the same time and they put my rotiforms to shame at a fraction of the cost. They were definitely heavier, but the price point was hard to beat. I haven't talked to him recently so I don't know if he's had a chance to run them with all this COVID action going on but I can reach and and check his opinion.

Would love to hear from your buddy if he has any complaints or issues. In general they seem a 4lbs heavier per wheel than a full forged wheel at half the price. The oem 18x8.5 is 26lbs and these are 18x9.5 and 26lbs so I'm not behind.

I just talked to him and he says he really likes the wheels. He'd definitely buy them again given the choice. Obviously they're heavier, but not so much it's not worth it. He also mentioned to avoid the matte finishes. He got matte bronze and it looks absolutely amazing but the surface is porous and a real bear to clean brake dust off of.

Out of curiosity, why no forgelines? Seems like they're about the same price as these and are known to be at least pretty decent quality.
In reply to dps214 :
The $2700 is EACH for Forgelines depending on what style.
Forgestar are about $1400 per SET
Forgeline hover around $1500 per WHEEL

Whoops...I meant forgestar. But in my defense OP made the same mistake.
But yeah, IIRC 18" forgestars are around $300-350/wheel and have a reputation for being not great for long term hard track use but otherwise just fine. The wheels in question are $310/wheel and unknown quality. Edit: looks like forgestars are closer to $400 each these days, but they usually have a pretty good black friday sale.

The 6x115 pattern kills the usually normal price of most wheels. It was something like 1500 extra for that otter on forgestar and something line 3000 on for forgeline. Similar with ccw. I would rather buy a name brand forged wheel but just too GRM for those prices on an 06 caddy that is not a forever car.
Kansei is owned by Raceline wheels who have been making offroad wheels forever and are a good brand.
