Apparently my Google skills are weak.
I am looking for a cheap way to see Cam Retard Offset on a GM 5.7 Vortec. This is a PID usually reserved for higher end scan tools since its not part of the generic OBD2 package. My OTC scanner does not show it. I dont want to spend the hundreds on a fancier scanner just for one feature. I have heard good things about Torque Pro but cant seem to find anything other than people posting the same question.
Does anybody know?
For those that dont know, being able to see Cam Retard Offset is helpful after replacing a distributor.
I don't see that that is one of the "sensor" entries that is available for real-time monitoring in Torque Pro.
Which OTC scan tool are you using? I had never had a problem seeing that in a Genisys. Havn't tried that with the Genisys Touch, we just got that last year and haven't seen any 5.7s yet.
I'm no help on GM, but I've been playing with Torque Pro on my old powerstroke a lot. Even if the app doesn't have a preset for it, you can write a custom one IF the data is actually being sent to the computer AND you can find out the PID number. Several of the PIDs I'm using are custom ones that I found in forums for the early diesel ford trucks that weren't in the stock Torque lists. I'm not sure how you could identify the pid #s and coding, though.

Its one like this. 10-12 years ago it was the cheapest I could find with basic live data. It was good for the used cars that came through the shop and since I retired from flat-rate its been good for personal cars. However it does have its limits.
Thanks for checking in Torque for me. I was hoping it would be there but am not surprised it isn't.
