That truck is magnificent!
What nothing is it in the middle of, exactly? Looks like a nice part of the world.

I'm back in Los Angeles, not with the truck in Montana. But I'll be going back and I need to get the inner bearing sorted out. Best case scenario is I go to a bearing store that would have such a thing, or at least a person that can help me out. So I'm looking for that, if anyone knows of a resource in southern California please let me know!
From the old GMC truck forums I was directed to :

Newer style seal... love it. The search continues, but I feel like there's hope!
Okay!!! I think i got somewhere. I'm back in LA and i got some help with the seal measurements. Just got a replacement in today. It's not the felt style, it's newer. Wish me luck! I'll post the results here.

So when do you go back and visit the truck?
And when do you tow the restored Beetle back to LA with the running truck?
I'm in LA until next week, then I'm dragging up my "Murderbug" to Montana to finish up the baja bug conversion. That's my old beetle from high school (I have 2 VW's), I'm turning it into a Mad Max car for myself to enjoy. I'll get the seal on the old truck in the next couple weeks, pictures will be provided!
As for driving the truck down to LA.... I don't think so. That thing goes maybe 45mph. I would like to have that thing in LA, would be SO much fun. Might fix it up and sell it in SoCal... not sure yet. As for my 57 oval, I'm still in the bodywork phase. But- I'd say it's more finished than undone. So that's a good feeling.
As for other car stuff, I just spent an hour under my 1994 F150 trying to sort out the trailer wiring.... I'm learning you might HAVE to have a converter for a flat 4-way trailer connection from the vehicle. I was trying to straight wire it... and I did.... and there's some funky things happening... I'm hopeful the $20 converter from Uhaul will fix my problems.
