Seems every time I'm near a Previa it sounds like it has an engine from the Jetsons' space car in it. What is special (or not special) about the Previa engine or exhaust that makes it sound like this?

They did that on purpose. To match how they look.

The fact that the engine is laying on its side might have something to do with it. Or not. Since you bastards let me in on their weird and spectacular engineering I keep looking longingly at them. They're even practical. Damn.

Mine has two whistles. One is the standard Previa whistle, the other is when the Supercharger kicks in.

My in-laws used to have a Previa. FIL used to be a helicopter test pilot in the military, and bought it for the dash/console setup. Said it reminded him of being in a helicopter.

I hated the way it drove. It was a floater in more than one way.

Could these be had with the 5 speed and S/C? I thought you couldn't.

Needs the mini-gun option.

When I was in high school my mom had a S/C AWD Previa. I don't recall it making any unusual noises. In fact, there was almost no supercharger noise that I recall. It was pretty cool though (as far as minivans go).

Well they can be had with 5 speed or S/C, no reason you can't combine the two.

"Previa" just means before, previous, or prior. It is Latin in origin. The term "placenta previa" just uses it in that way, as an adjective to describe an abnormal placenta placement. It has nothing to do with the placenta in and of itself, just as the word "melted" is not restricted to cheese just because we use the term "melted cheese."
