Brother was smart and bought himself a 2009 P71. From Yellowstone National Park. He's looking for wheels. I looked around here (Chicagoland.) I found these on Milwaukee Craigslist.

18x8 Sport Edition with BFG Comp 2 tires

This is the ad description :

Black painted sport edition wheels and tires are from a 2015 Mustang
Tires are P255/45R18 BF Goodrich G-force comp2
2 tires have 5/32 left
2 tires have 6/32 left
TPMS sensors installed
bolt pattern is 5 x 4.5 (5 x 114.3)
wheel dimensions are 18 x 8
Sensors will link to 2015 and older ford products
Wheels are in perfect conditon, no scratches or curb rash
Asking $500

Will a wheel that fits a 2015 Mustang fit the Vic? Tire Rack site has 18x8 wheels with an offset ranging from +38 to +48 fitting. I'll try to contact the seller asking for an offset, but I'm not expecting miracles.

Also,  is this even worth it?

IIRC, it's S197 wheels that fit 05+ CV's perfectly. These are S550.

Different offset? Wrong bore size? Different wheel stud size? Found a few on CV.net running 15 and up wheels.

Unless something massively changed (which I'm pretty sure it didn't) P71 wheels are much closer to zero offset.  I recall ET+6 being common and most aftermarket choices were zero.

Those look like very high offset.

Measure what he has on the car stock.

Both the Mustang and the Crown Vic will have 70.6mm centerbores, but I'm certain those aftermarket wheels will have much larger bores for a universal fit.

03+

  • All came with at least 16" wheels, 17" for LX Sport. '03+ Town Cars and 18" for Marauders. All can use the 16" rims, however.
  • The width is again 7", Though the Marauder's are 8" to run larger width tires
  • The offset is high, ~50mm *Though anything in the ~40-~50mm range is acceptable.

Other Wheel info:

  • 05+ / s197 Mustang, all 03+ panther, and 2002-2005 Explorer wheels are a direct fit for 03+ panthers.
    • **Note: There is a clearance issue between the wheel and front calipers when using *some* '05+ Mustang wheels on '03+ panthers. This appears to be limited to the polished 18" 5-spoke "Bullitt" factory Ford wheels, and the 2013 19" rims pictured in this post. If you run into this problem, slip-on style 1/4" spacers will space the wheel far enough to gain adequate clearance.
  • s95 (94-04)/5x4.5" Mustang wheels have too low of an offset for 03+ panthers, the wheels may protrude past the wheel openings.
  • Kenny Brown panthers used 18x8" Ronal R-7 wheels, using 245/45/18 tires
  • 2006+ CVPIs use 17" wheels. These wheels are a direct swap on all 2003+ panthers.
    • They can be used on -02 provided hub centric adapters (1.5") are used on all 4 wheels.
  • The aforementioned Ford wheel offerings (Mustang, Explorer, Panther, etc.) use the correct 70.6mm center bore.
  • Our cars use a 1/2"-20 RH thread Acorn style lug nut when you go to purchase chrome lugs for your spiffy new wheels
  • Factory lug torque spec is ~95ft-lbs

In reply to Curtis73 :

79-02 Panther chassis use the near-zero offset wheels.

03+ had a redesigned suspension and used modern high-offset wheels.

Tire rack had 18x8 size, same as the ones in question,  fitting with offsets ranging from +38 to +48. That's a pretty wide range. Waiting on a reply from the seller on the wheel's offset.  That will help determine things a bit better.

Ah.  I knew there was a suspension change in there somewhere, just didn't know it included an offset change.

Should be alright on an 03+ car. As they are generic wheels, a set of hub-centric rings may be required but those are cheap.

This is the best resource I found when I was looking for wheels to fit my P71.
