I want to get into winter motorsports on my show. Open to ALL winter motorsports. Even if it is done year round tell me what you do. Just going to discuss how there is no off season on tonight's show.
I know there was an ice racing thread from Flint, so tell me what you do in the winter months.
(yes, what you do in your garage counts)
What show do you have? Can I watch or listen to it in VA Beach?

We are live on www.talkstl.com at 6 central. podcasts are available at the show tabs under Turn Left.
Thanks for the link, Dave.
Its funny to hear the voices behind the avatars. I find your calm voice funny as you book around the track.

My winter motorsport activities consist of plowing snow and trekking the "Long Mile" to get to civilization.......Lowered fukus isn't very good at the latter.
In reply to yamaha:
I'm preparing for that life. Blading the snow will be my chore.

In reply to N Sperlo:
I used to play around with snowmobiles though, haven't done that in ages though.
Ice Racing with cars always seems to be popular in the northern states. Been to a few myself. Somebody here probably does it more than I ever had.
It's tough to find winter sports in Fla.
There's ice races up here in Michigan.
MIRA runs wheel to wheel though I've never been to one of their events:

There's also non wheel to wheel ice racing which is more daily driver friendly and basically a big ice solo auto-x. A couple groups run these in Michigan. I've run events with the Furrin Group near Grand Rapids, MI. No studs are allowed. Here's a video of my buddy Henry running his completely stock '07 VW Rabbit on a set of snow tires. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdGgiwnSJZk
I know the Saginaw Valley region SCCA runs similar events on their side of the state.

Same here in San Diego. Our auto-x season ends in December and starts back up in early February. Not much of an off-season.
It does mean the beginning of desert season though

Our dirt season just shut down. I will likely be pretty involved next year when it fires up, so I wanted to get some winter sports in during the down time. Can't play music for half the show.
I have a WRX on wintersports and a 4Runner. So my winter motorsport whenever it snows any significant amount around here is to head a couple miles over into the hilly/twisty/woodsy town next to mine and "rescue" all the soccer moms and jacked-up-4x4 guys who put their vehicles in a ditch because they thought "4wd means I can drive fast in snow and ice, even if my tires suck."
I usually make a few hundred in tips on the deal as well. But I really just enjoy people's faces when my "cheap japanese car" easily climbs the steep hills that their Navigators and Jeeps couldn't make it up. I like to say it's magic. The magic of selecting appropriate tires for winter weather.
That said, we only get 1-2 decent snowstorms here a season, if that....and the local DOT is annoyingly efficient at clearing the roads
Theres an autox in stark. Turkey trot. Turkey rod run. More autox. More club events, and the drag strip is open until he takes a christmas vacation. Then everything starts over again in january. Lol.
Florida is horrible I tell ya.
I used to spend some quality time on the dirt bike in the winter when there was between 3 and 6 inches of snow on the ground. Taught me a lot about feeling for traction and feeding in power slowly. Mostly I did it because I was a dumb kid with nothing better to do, but I did have a very good time.

We usually have a New Year's Day autocross here in the bay area. Alas, questions about the site are pending, so it's not going to happen this year.
