I borrow the FIL's Dakota on a regular basis, so when he asked me to take a look at a couple of issues, the answer was of course.

So I ordered all the parts and set about it tonight. It's a 2001 Dakota 4X4 with a 3.9L V6.

I am pretty sure I changed the ORIGINAL Plugs, wires, cap and rotor . . . . . .

Sounds about right. Plugs cap and rotor on my 99 durango were good till 2012.

Yeah, it's not like a 4.3 chevy that starts arcing between leads inside its distributor cap every 30-40k.
