Are you also sure you just didn't hit the band button and now you are on fm2 instead of fm1 or whatever?

Let's not ask people to pay attention to how they're driving. Lets not ask them to "look ahead" or "use less of the skinny pedal". Instead lets give them a false sense of hope and smugness in the form of a button on our dash! Cuz, you know... thinking about what the hell you're doing to achieve your goals (assuming "better fuel economy" is someone's goal) is just too damned difficult to ask of the general population. < /rant > sorry...

Back in the old days that button worked in reverse and they called it a sport button. It's all about the marketing.

Ugh, this is my nomination:

I've owned a barrage of Ford products over the past 15 or so years:
1999 Mustang GT
1999 Mustang Cobra vert
2004 Explorer V8
2006 F150 4x4

Each one had the same keyfob (save for the trunk release button). The worst was the Explorer one for some reason. The damn panic button was so easy to trigger. After a nasty fight with the now ex-wife where I triggered the panic on the Explorer (which was in the garage) while getting into my Ranger, waking up both my infant children, I pulled the remote apart and superglued the button on the circuit board. No more pocket activations

Now that is SOP for every keyfob that has a panic button.

Any button, that controls an overly complicated and frequently failing gadget, that replaced a manually operated gadget, that never failed.

Anyone get that?

Anyone ever seen where the sunroof button and fog lights are located in a 964? Not exactly bad buttons... but totally random locations.

The Duke boys installed a turbo in the General Lee in one episode. It had a big red button to activate it IIRC. I think it belonged to Cale Yarborough.

Honorable mention goes to any car where the window switches are anywhere other than the door panels.

It works on the Fiat 500. That's the shifter in the middle.

The car is small enough that you can reach both switches easily.

And the fact that the sunroof button is completely unlabeled, which is probably not that big of a deal given that you can't see it while driving.

Yes! The FoMoCo panic button is way too sensitive. I used to set mine off at least three times a week, just putting the keys in my pocket and walking down the steps of the garage at work.

I cracked mine open and took out the little metal contact thing in the middle of the switch. Now you can still use the panic button if you need to for some weird reason, but you have to really push down on it now.

I love window switches that aren't on the doors. I've owned more cars with them on the center console than with them on the door. The only window activation device on the door should be the manual crank.

Steering wheel mounted radio buttons that stand proud of the surface, so I can change the radio station any time I go around a corner. My Volvo isn't too bad, but I've driven some where I change stuff every single time I turn the wheel.

It's as much the cupholder's fault, but where does all the liquid from the Styrofoam Route 44 Sonic cup go when punctured by the bottom of an 850/X70 cupholder... the center console of course. If you're lucky you only get sticky buttons, and it's a lesson you only have to learn once.

wipers on an 85/86 911. Stalk for wipers unless you want intermittent, then it's the unmarked switch under the gauge pod and the light washer is the switch next to the speedo, not to be confused with the windshield wash that's on the stalk. OTOH the seat buttons/switches are serviceable/rebuildable - nice that you can fix something instead of toss it.

It's not a "worst button", but the Vanagon heater controls are something else. There are multiple pages online trying to describe how to best make them work.

One slider for how much air goes to the windshield, one for temperature, one for footwell airflow, one for rear vent airflow - and of course, they interact. Two fan switches, one for the rear heater and one for the front/windshield. Then there are two vents on the sides of the dash that provide ambient ram air from outside and have their own on-off levers.

The AC? That's a separate unit housed in a box in the ceiling, so it has a separate control panel with temperatures and yet another fan. This lets you have a battle between the AC and the heater if you like (tip: bet on the heater) with the only true loser being the electrical system of the van and the eardrums of the occupants.
