...of the introduction of the DeLorean
I've more than likely said here before but Dad drove us up on a mountain road overlooking the factory where you could see the parking lot FULL of DeLoreans. I sort of feel old.
I don't want to own a Delorean, but I'd love to chase one down the highway as it hit 88mph.
Maybe if I was driving one of those 8th gen civics with the big goofy digital speedo catch a shot of the speedo at 88mph and a Delorean in the other lane....
You guys are aware that the DeLorean is being rereleased next year. Seriously.
Of all things one pulled next to me at a stop light 5 minutes ago.
I don't need that to make me feel old. I was born during the Eisenhower administration. The first one.

True but it will cost a whole lot more this time around. $100k and up.
There's a new movie coming out called 'Oasis' that is partly animated by Spielberg with a DeLorean in the animated part.
I'm 37, but the father of my best friend in kindergarten had one, in a town of 2k. yes, he did later go to prison for a long time, but it sure was neat to ride around in as a kid.

The original wasn't cheap at $25K - over $67K in 2017 money. Maybe at $100K the car might be somewhat profitable.
I did get to work on one a bunch a year or two ago. Clutch R&R and some other while-you're-in-theres.
The thing is just LOADED with 7mm thread bolts. (Why, Renault? Why?) And the chassis engineering is... strange. Kind of a backbone frame with a body on top, and huge undertrays. But the service info is available for them, and there are cheat sheet parts lists online for where DMC sourced bits from. I only recall that you have to find CV boots for a '74 2002...
One neat feature of those mini windows is that they are so short, you couldn't pass a smartphone through them vertically. Between that and how far back they are placed, there is no cockpit ventilation except for the air conditioning. But the doors will open fully in the car's width, so when you go to McDonald's you probably just open the door all the way to get your drinks in the car. Duck your head before closing the door.

I believe you are talking about "Ready Player One". Oasis is just the digital world that the movie is set in.
I just watched an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Netflix, he had a Delorean. It broke down. They brought in a backup Delorean, and you see the previous one on a flatbed being taken away in the background. That said I still think they're cool, minus the terrible engine.
Damn I feel old. Not because 37 years is a long time ago, but because I'm surprised it's only 37 years ago.

My wife has recently discovered that series on Netflix, she's binging right now but I did catch that one.

I remember going to a car show once and seeing a Delorean there. Upon seeing it, I instantly mentally dinged him a few points for painting over the stainless steel with a dark blue paint. Then I noticed the raised door and the guy laying across the sill with his head up under the dashboard and a test light and multimeter in hand, troubleshooting some electrical fault. I was at the show for a couple hours and he was still under there when I left muttering to himself. I wonder if he got home

Plus one for Ike. Hell, I was married before the Delorean was built. My first marriage lasted longer than the Delorean. And that too was a dud.
In reply to NickD :
Painted usually means collision repair. You can't really make a bruahed stainless panel look right again once it's been deformed.
Maybe because it was before my time, but I think I'm going to be the curmudgeon here and say that I've been impressed by nothing about the Delorean ever.
